Jo,
got throught the 20 hrs of break in, changed out the props and put on a pr of 30's. WOW what a difference. got 95 Sunday 5000 to 5100 with room to spare. Hit a big wake....got humbled, and backed down. I think in an even chop without so much boat wake I would have (wishfully) gotten to triple digits. Boats been running great, very glad you talked me into those 525's. Dom and I have been having a good summer, I am sure he's going behind my back and looking for a pr of blowers to try to keep up, let me know if you hear anything!

Be careful and wear the kill switch.

I'm curious:

Does anyone know the fastest speed a 28 ran and with what power?

104 mph at 5900 rpms with a little more left at 7 lbs of boost with a 584 ci blower motor 1471 blower with an intercooler and twin marine 1050`s on top, 31 H6 Hydromotive six bladder, oh solid roller cam and idles at 700.

To be honest with you guys it is not fun, to much tension trying to keep the boat on plane, 900 ponies is way to much for my boat, however, it is alot fun when you pass other boats going 80.

Tom it is real and I have braught down the boost down a bit to conserve motor and drive, I will never run to the limit again unless it for sale and the buyer has enough ballz to hang on.

Albert, this may be a dumb question and I'm showing my inexperence, but why wont it stay on plane. I'm sure it's a handfull and the conditions have to be just right to run like that.

I have always enjoyed extreem power. I don't really want to run like that (much). The power and the pull the boat has must be wonderful. I want something that has more to offer than I really want to experence. This way it never gets old.

Re: Yee Haaa

Actually, if Mercury had made the 7oo hp engine or even the 600 when I had Pantera build mine, I probably would have opted for one of those. I think the Pantera 28 runs best at a top speed in the mid-80's. I'd have white knuckles at 90 plus. Not that the boat can't handle it, just way too much for this candy ass white boy!!

Tom what I meant to say is that anything over 90 in my boat without a winshield is dangerous because you have no room for error in case something pops up. You never know if you are trimmed up and a large boat crossed the lane in which I am going and you dont see his wake at 95 mph the boat will get loose out of control without having a chance to gain control again can be scary. We dont have lakes down here only intercoastal waterways and that sometimes has 3 footers. The day I reached the 100 mark I was by myself in the boat with racing helmet and lfe jacket and all three kills switches attached to me with father in law in his boat watching onthe intercastal was glass that day. I wont attempt those speeds with anyone but Jo or Frank aka the donz and ofcourse Bruce Seroff, last Mike aka donz jr.

Mike your are right, you drove it close to 100 that day mighty well, it made it easier for me to just throttle the boat at that speed with you driving it.

Iron Man,
Call my cell and I'll come pick you up for a run.

Guys,
I agree that the 28 runs best mid to high 80's. Once your over 90 the fun is gone and your "at work". We have a few 150' cruise ships on the lake and all is good till you hit that 3' wake. The best fun is having 36 and 38' pull up alongside on a good chop day when your just putting and see the expresion when you take off like a shot. The only boat that has taken me on the lake is a 39 outterlimits with twin 900's durring that Poker run in the spring (Pork Chop!). There is no 28 that runs the chop like these do, they do build a strong boat!

104mph.........YOUR NUTS!

Way to go Sonny, glad to hear you are having a blast in your new boat. Keep kicking some but out in the lake and dont let that Outerlimits scare you, you can out accelerate him. Yes I was nuts going 104 so dont try to attempt those speeds without proper safety equipment.

Otis,
Hey Cig boy this is Pantera boy calling you out! We'll be around all weekend, invited nobody up so we could enjoy so we have NO COMPANY! I'll call you Sat and see what's up. Pray for no rain but may not be good. Could meet at Algonquin Sat afternoon and come over to the house. Let me know. Your boat does look great......congrat's. If it's raining we could take out your pontoon boat with those blow up girls you have, I'll call Boom-Boom and see if he's in, he has the compressor right?
