Hey Guys:

I spoke with Linda yesterday and we should have them Tuesday or latest Wednesday. Getting Psyched...taking FT out of the water Tomorrow and polishing her up. Having problems with my exhaust again. I hope CMI can fix me so I can be legal in both states.

FT,
I think Otis has made arrangements that we all get a pass this weekend, can't blow on the noise meter but watch out for the BIWI meter.
Otis,
Is Pork Chop coming? And do you need a hand on Fri PM or Sat AM?

Otis311:

I have CMI external switchables that even when closed are around 94. However, the pump that pumps air into the system may be shot. I thought at first it was the selenoid, so I replaced that, but now it just doesn't work.

Switchables are not permitted in CT. They want full time mufflers and I have to be 88 or below. If Trick has mufflers that would work, I'll buy them there. However, I think if they attach to the pipe, I'll have to repair the transom as I have small air hoses that run through it. What a real pain in the butt.

I really don't see what all the fuss is...can't these people that don't like noise just wear earplugs!! Or better still...just stick their finger in their ear and the noise will go away in seconds!!

To coin a phrase that was stated by a man that is very cooperative with the legal system:

"Can't we all just get along!!"

Bob,
I'll call your cell later today or call me at 365-4409

T-Mone,
No problem, after watching you run, I think I would rather be with you!!!

FT,
Regarding the mufflers I say you go another way, remember the best quote ever "drive it like you stole it". I have those CMI's, have not been tested but I don't think I would ever pass. They do keep the cops away but in a pinch who knows. They don't take long to hook up and once they are on not much to fuss with. If you get them, take the set screws out and put lock tight on them, I blew the guts out the first day but no issue since then.

See you all soon, pray for this good weather they are reporting.

Jo,
Heard a rumor that you might come up???? any truth??? I have room at the house if you are. Call me and let me know, looks like Bob has this thing up to 80 boats and there is a stong "pantera" showing. Jump in the truck and join us.

Hey Ron I have a pair of the cmi mufflers I you want to use them I bought them for mine from Fred, but then went to a bigger tail pipe so now I have no use for them. You are more than welcome to try them to see if they work for you. I had them on my donzi for about 2 weeks and they really made it quite. Don't buy them just yet try mine first.

Re: Panteras on Lake George

Guys:

Thanks for your assistance. I'm not sure if I can just slip them over the pipe. I think my system has to come completely off and a new pipe installed then install the mufflers over that. I may be wrong though. I'll have to look at it tomorrow when I'm polishing the boat.

I believe the sweatshirts should be arriving today or tomorrow for those that wanted them. Looking forward to some nice pics.

I'm sure everyone at Pantera will be proud of us all getting together.

Make the trip!!

Re: Panteras on Lake George

Ron if you have a 4.5" tailpipe then they should work just fine. Although I'm not sure how Pantera did your pipes, but usually even if you have some kind of silent choice the tailpipe should still be the same diameter. Someone correct me if I'm wrong! They really do just slip over the tailpipe and clamp down.

Mike

Full Throttle 525 10-03-2006 02:13 PM

Re: Panteras on Lake George

Mike:

I was on the CMI site and it looks as though mine do clamp on However, I'd have to disconnect the small tubes that run from the pump to the muffler to try them out. What type of CMI mufflers do you have? I could look at them on their website. I have someone calling me from CMI to see if they have a different muffler to replace the one I have. I'd take the chance with the switchables if I could get the decibels lower.

I really like the way the 525 sounds when I'm open. Not too many DEP guys out on the sound giving tickets. They like to stay in close to shore so everyone can see them doing their job.

Thanks for your help.

Ron

Hey Ron, I have the full time mufflers, but after like 1400 rpm they open up all the way and it doesn't even sound like you have mufflers they are basically only in use at idle. Which is why I got them. There is no loss in speed because they are only restrictive at idle.

They are the CMI sound elimination mufflers. I got them from Fred at trick marine. They are a 4.5" diameter and I think they have a 6" can. They are made for the 525 and up. I know when ordering them Fred he asked for the motor specs because they come in different can sizes depending on motor size/Ci. I can bring them with me this weekend so you can use them. I don't mind and that's the least I can do for you all being so courteous for inviting me.

Fred will be there with the full setup of CMI's. We will also have a certified Mercury Master mechanic at the docks to assist with install. He will also be there to help with any assistance anyone might need during the day of the event

Re: Panteras on Lake George

We are running the CMI Sound Elimination Mufflers on several 800+ HP boats with no problems. They pass the stationary idle test and then full open over approx. 1300 RPM.

They work very well and I'm sure you will like the sound closed and open.

We just returned from the Grand Opening of CMI's new manufacturing facility in Neenah WI. They will be improving order times and quality with this new facility.

Have a great/safe run!! Call us for all your CMI Exhaust and Muffler needs, we will save you money!

I spoke with Randy yesterday at CMI. He said I should go with the Sound Elimination mufflers. I have the external sound choice ysytem which he said should not be a problem to remove. I'm going to take the diameter measurement of my pipes then call Fred at Trick and see if he can get these for me. I just need to fill a few small holes for now and when I take the boat to the factory I'm sure the guys will fix them for me.

Thanks guys for all your help. I really don't need anymore tickets.

BTW...I've just had my girl's tatoo completed. Do you like the logo?? :D

The CMI mufflers that Sonny has really do sound good and to not have to worry about switching them on or off is really nice. A great product, If I did not already have the Teague mufflers the CMI's would be at the top of my list. Chris

I am installing them on my new engine set up. I wouldn't run them on a 1000 HP engine, but like I stated previously, we have them on several 800+ HP engines and they are quiet at the dock and sound great on plane.

Ron - if you install them and don't like them, I'll take them back! I'm sure you'll be pleased.

Nice to finally meet you too. Yesterday was perfect weather, nice chop! Stop by anytime.

2 fast,
Nice graphics on that thing! How big was that? Looked around 30'.

FT,
On your way to Fishers there is another marina call Castaways, real good spot. Nice people and they'll give you a hand. It's on the left just before you have to turn onto Pilot Knob road.

Hey Sonny:

Sorry, too late. I'll post some pics of the run soon. It was great seeing you and DomZ at the event. What a blast!! Can't wait to see the helicopter pics and the aerials. The helicopter circled me a number of times. This was probably my best time ever.

All my Pantera buds in one spot. DomZ, Morgan, T-Mone, you and I...awesome!! Even had Jromy with us, along with Trevor, Dave, Rick and my first mate, Phil.

Thanks Pepe, JO and Linda for getting our sweatshirts to us. They were surely appreciated and worn the entire event and definitely kept us warm when the sun went down.

I'll post some pics after I have reviewed what I have.

Special thanks to Bob(Otis311) who put on this event, what a super job well done. I met so many people and finally put a lot of names here with the faces.

Pantera was surely represented well.

Ron,
GREAT weekend! Either give me your address so I can send you $$$ or I will send some to Linda and I'll buy you some cloths. Those sweatshirts came in handy, thanks. What a day. Great having lunch...all the Pantera boys at the Algonquin. If Dom said Jerrrr-ooooo-meeeee one more time I was going to knock him out. Lets please try to pick 2 weekends for next year and we want to come down to LI and run the sound.

Morgan,
Last rip from the Algonquin to the village was great, man that thing runs. Thanks for the use of the PFD all day. You would have laughed if you saw me bring the 8 idiots later from the boat house to the Village (36 Cig that broke down). If anyone is wondering yes you can put 11 people in a 28 (we looked like a refugee raft). I forgot to ask you to take a pic of my GPS on Sunday AM when I saw you. Those labbed 32's were the trick....tattle tale for the day 95 MPH!!!!!!!! with 6 people and a full tank!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a 35 mm pic, trying to figure out how to convert to post it. Remember those cops in the narrows that I went by......yea he found me Sunday afternoon and gave me a stern talking to. No tickets though.

Sonny B.

T-Mone, get that thing fixed!!!!!

It was great to meet you and Domz. Very interesting about that cop....did you tell him you were distracted by the beauty of the leaves changing, and never saw him ;) Too bad I had to come back early, but I did get spared having to hear Domz say Jerrrr-oooo-meeee all night... :D

Thanks for letting me ride along this weekend! By the way, after seeing that picture you sent me this morning, I just thought of one more reason I'm glad I had to leave early... :D
