Craney 04-30-2007 07:57 PM

I have a 28 with 468s she will run 75 on gps,its a little heavy in the ass end but its a 28 with big blocks and trs drives. As for the ride you cant find another 28 that will ride as nice as Pantera.:D

moviemoney 04-30-2007 09:07 PM

thanks..very much,
I am looking at one more week befor I get it.....it's killing me
The guy that is going to get it now has to wait ,so I just may leave on Wensday and get it myself. I figuerd out it will be a six day roud trip.

Dude! Sweet! 05-01-2007 12:58 AM

It took us about 60 hours to get to Omaha and back which we did in a little over 3 days (including the half day test drive). We drove straight through there (31 hours) slept, tested the boat and drove straight back (27 hours).

Milagewise, Omaha is a bit over half way to the east coast. Additionally, it took me a good week to recover.

Good luck and drive safe if you decide to do it!

I'm really looking forward to seeing your boat!

tomcei 05-01-2007 04:36 AM

movie- which boat did you get?

moviemoney 05-01-2007 09:25 AM

I bought Mike Anglois boat( Jerry Memolis old boat ) 2002 with 500 clones , the boat and motors-drives less then 60 hrs on it ,the trailer was never put in the water two engin hatches-one with scoops the other with the sun pad.all white .This boat has had more wax on it then full tank of fuel.

tomcei 05-01-2007 02:45 PM

I saw that boat when I picked up mine--sweet, nice move

moviemoney 05-02-2007 10:45 AM

I know there is a few more of you guys out running with twins

Thirsty Turtle 05-02-2007 12:45 PM

Got a 1994 with 502MPI's running 26 B1. Love the boat! Acceleration is awesome for the mild power. Comes on plane quickly and easily. Will always run 75 mph. Tops is 77.5. Being tail heavy has never been a problem, just tab down a touch to fly level. Plus, sitting low in the rear, makes it look like a hot rod at the dock. :D

moviemoney 05-02-2007 03:57 PM

now we're talking.... any chime-walking or pourpoising? how much fuel do you like to keep in her ..re: that 140 gal is a heavy load.are you runnig the props out or in ?any thing else you like to add

Craney 05-02-2007 07:32 PM

I have 2 tanks in mine 1 60 gallon in the bow and 110 gallon in the floor. I'm turning my props in, I should swich the drives and see how it runs with them turning out.

mikebrls 05-02-2007 08:34 PM

craney , you dont have to switch the drive's to test . all you do is switch the prop's from one side to the other, and then when you run the boat for test only you put the gear shifter in reverse and that will make you go foward . if you put the shifter in foward you will go in reverse :)

z.zuperboat 05-02-2007 09:06 PM

If their trs drives dont run them in reverse hard. the trannies dont like that. I would switch the drives. bravos are another story. Mine had 468,s and trs,s spinning in and man that thing would hang like a stream. Your going to love the 28 with twins. best of luck

Thirsty Turtle 05-02-2007 09:28 PM

^ You can do that with Bravos. Can TRS also be run like that?

We made a fuel mileage trip last year. 200 miles with minimal no wakes and 4 locks. Ran 3300-3500 rpm most of the trip and saw 1.73 mpg and we wear loaded with gear. Thought that was pretty good!

Thirsty Turtle 05-02-2007 09:29 PM

z answered my question :D

z.zuperboat 05-03-2007 01:41 PM

I was told the something in the trannies for reverse is different then the forward. Thats why they make noise in reverse. I was told not to do it.

If it's like an inboard tranny and makes the whirring noise in reverse it's using planetary gears to get it done- and yes, they would not be happy in continous use:(

jimjomack 05-06-2007 07:41 AM

I have a 28 twin with the equivilent of 500 HPs. Boat was a little rear heavy. Had to add weight in the bow and that balanced the boat out but took a few miles off of top end. I run 75 mph on GPS with Bravo 1 30 pitch blades

moviemoney 05-07-2007 07:00 PM

jimjomack, do you run her in the oacen or fresh water. Only asking because I have been told that out in the oacen to add wight for running swells, but in lakes with washing machine chop ,not to add the lbs

moviemoney 05-08-2007 10:52 PM

I know ,....your right I am ther for the chicks toooo. The only thing that kind of sucks is that my first trip out is on memorial day weekend in havasu, I only go out there on off holiday weekends. There are too many YAHOOS that can't drive sober so they say f***it and drive drunk.I keep you posted Sean, on when I get the BOAT.

TexomaPowerboater 05-21-2007 07:38 PM

How much distance do you get out of the twin engines? Can you get 2 weekends out of one tank?

Dude! Sweet! 05-21-2007 07:56 PM

Rocky, do you have the boat yet? How about some photos of you dominating Havasu in that thing!?

That's a difficult question to answer. I've chewed threw a 120 gal tank in just over a day. Then again If I'm not hog wild and do some chillin and swimming it could last several trips to the lake.
Tipically I will burn a solid 1/2 tank each trip out. That's with a single

littledcsrodshop 05-21-2007 08:45 PM

I ran a good bit this week end & started out with a bit less
than a full tank & still have atleast a half tank left. but like. Tom said it is a hard question with the main varible being the greedy rt hand. If it helps I crused about 2700-3000 rpm most of the time @ about 35-38 mph , quite a few start & stops & 2 hard blasts of wot. Hope this helps a little.

That helps alot - I'm about the same - like to cruise around 40-50mph - with maybe two short blasts over a whole weekend. I drive about 2 1/2 hours on a typical weekend. The lake gets pretty small when you move that fast so I usually will just drive for about 30 minutes - take a nice long swim - and drive back. This boat has the twin 454's which I figure would NOT be twice as much as my 24 python with a 502.

Just sold the python. DEAL PENDING ON THE 99 PANTERA IN DALLAS!!!! (454's w 310hp)- THIS IS GOING BY REAL FAST. Hopefully will test drive on Friday. If everything goes right I will have her out for Memorial Day weekend. I feel like everything is coming at me at 90 mph. Any pointers for the test drive - mechanical wise - what to test for, troubleshoot? I don't know how to drive a boat with twins, but the dealership is a top notch donzi dealer so I figure he could give me a good crash course.

Sorry for hijacking the thread - but we are still talking about a 28 Pantera with twins:D :D

A good friend of mine here in Miami is also very interested in that 1999 Pantera 28'. He is trying to get finacing before putting the deal together. He has spoken to them several times. That 28' was built for my uncle. If you purchase it this week call me and so we can discuss what it needs. The boat should run right at 67 - 68 MPH at WOT.It is a very easy boat to run !! You will enjoy it.

Regards,

JO
