YES - we just finished the survey and she's a gem. I should be taking delivery in a little less than 2 weeks. AND I'm still a big pantera fan..........maybe next time.

This deal was just too good to pass up.

TexomaPowerboater 11-07-2007 02:51 PM

Anybody ever seen a 28 center console

http://fortlauderdale.craigslist.org/boa/468507296.html

Looks pretty sweet and clean.

Stormrider 11-07-2007 03:16 PM

yea... they're out there.
a few on the pantera site.

btw, congrats on the apache!
better start posting over there.

Dude! Sweet! 11-07-2007 04:00 PM

Congrats on the new ride Andy. I thought Pepe told me that the first 28 was a CC. Is that an accurate recollection?

Python82 11-09-2007 11:11 AM

Congrats on that sweet a$$ Apache! Cant wait to make it up and run with you.:ernaehrung004:

TexomaPowerboater 11-09-2007 01:20 PM

Thanks guys,

Python82 - look at the Southcentral board - there is a guy looking for history on pythons and thinking of buying. I mentioned that yours might be for sale........

Can't wait for the summer........with no flooding I hope. It will be interesting to actually compare the 28 apache and pantera instead of just debating about it.

Python82 11-09-2007 01:31 PM

Its going to be a great summer! You are going to be really happy with the twins.

Loving mine!

TexomaPowerboater 11-09-2007 03:00 PM

This purchase is taking WAY TOO LONG. Looks like I will not be getting the boat now until the beginning of DECEMBER, due to some title issues. :( . I will be so relieved when this boat is finally in OK.

jayhawk261 11-09-2007 03:05 PM

We had title issues when we bought out boat. It came from New York. Be thankful it is just 4 weeks. It took 12 Weeks in the state of NY to get a replacement title. We made the deal in July and didn't get the boat until Labor day weekend! Good luck with it and congrats!

Dude! Sweet! 11-09-2007 04:51 PM

When I bought my boat, I just took the boat home and ran it. The clean title came in the mail a week or so later (as I recall).

tomcei 11-09-2007 07:42 PM

title,........we don't need no stink'n title:cool-smiley-027:

they're trying to pass legislation in TN right now to require titles on boats. Sounds like just another way for the gov't to make some more money on us. At least we don't have to pay our wheel tax on trailers (yet).

Its the one listed on OSO http://www.offshoreonlyclassifieds.c...o18918-en.html

bigboat28 11-13-2007 06:05 PM

Texoma congrats, does yours have any stress cracks anywhere on it? Went and looked at the one in Florida last weekend, it is rough.

TexomaPowerboater 11-13-2007 08:00 PM

I am aware of the fact that, like most boats, the 28 apache is not indestructable. In fact the only 28ft boat I know of that has never had any structural issues is the 28 pantera (maybe an AT, just never researched). To answer your question..........I'm not 100% sure. I'm still slightly holding my breath until it gets here. Normally I wouldn't do that, but I didn't have the funds to go see it. Even if it did have bad stress/structural cracks - I could still get out of it for what I have in it. I did have it surveyed, and there was no report of any stress cracks, but he did mention that there were some small cracks in the paint, mostly in the cockpit around the fastners, which were cosmetic......I hope. This is really nothing I wouldn't expect out of an original 1990 offshore boat. Often it has more to do with the paint wearing down, rather than the structural integrity of the boat. My surveyor had the pleasure of surveying another 28 apache just before mine and it was in rough shape, or so he said. May have been the same boat. I know it was an OSO members boat that is currently for sale......... According to the surveyor, mine was a gem, compared to all the ones he has seen. I think that some people get it in there head that because its an apache that its a tank......WRONG, its a 28 apache - not a 41. Also keep in mind that my apache only has around 225 total hours, which is way, way low for a 1990 boat. I also had info from the previous buyer, whom did not run it hard and only ran it in freshwater. Most every 28 apache I have seen looks like it was put through the ringer, except mine. I would not have even considered it if it weren't for all the pluses........the apache name, low, low hours, fresh rebuild, red dash, mostly freshwater, not abused, and a low, low price. Send me your email and I will be more than happy to forward you a copy of my survey so that you can compare with other 28 apaches. Originally the surveyor left on some horrible descriptions of the other 28 apache because he copied and pasted it. He admited to the mistake and re-issued the report. I almost dropped the deal because of it. Imagine how pissed the owner was.

I'm not rich, so if you've got a real hard on - make me an offer:D

If anyone is interested, I'm going to sell my '80 24ft Pantera Sport. Nothing serious, I have some personal and family issues that came up and I need to free up some cash.

Also, I just never seem to have time to work on her. I'm thinking I need to step into a newer one when I'm ready in a year or so.

Subsequently, I'll be in Japan after the 1st for work, and possible going to Australia for most/part of the summer.

I'm not super modivated to sell, but I thought if someone out there has some time and wants a great boat, I'd let her go.
$10k
Thanks,
Troy

Do you have some pics of it? Cabin, cockpit, engineroom, exterior etc...

robltc 11-14-2007 04:27 PM

I'll get pics tomorrow or this weekend and post them. The boat is stored 1.5 hrs away in one of our shops.

I have the boat on a dolly that I built so I could work on the trailer and replace the rollers, rewire, repaint etc... I've ordered all new rollers for the trailer and will have those installed too. ...and its just been winterized.

Right now its just collecting dust cause I never have time nor the place nearby where I work/live to work on the boat and enjoy it.

Looks great! I would appreciate some pics of the gauges, and the cockpit seen from the deck, and of course the engineroom, transom and cabin. :)

Dude! Sweet! 11-19-2007 07:08 PM

You know, I've been kicking around the idea of selling/trading my boat to get a race boat. Not 100% by any means, but if anyone is interested, shoot me a pm or email and we can talk...

TexomaPowerboater 11-20-2007 12:23 PM

I've heard that before............
Something happen to the pantera?

 I think I've met someone as nuts as I am:rolleyes:

Dude! Sweet! 11-20-2007 07:00 PM

Oh man! That cracks me up! :D Yah Tom, you and I both have a similar sickness!

And I was actually thinking of typing "just ask Andy" after the part where I said I wasn't 100% sure!

The boat's still in great shape. I'm just itching for more speed and looking to do some races next year and Albert's advice about not ruining a really nice pleasure 28 by racing it has finally started to sink in!

Here we go................DONT DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TexomaPowerboater 11-20-2007 07:40 PM

For 29K the sonic boom boat should be a lot of fun. I would try and get Jo to let you do a trade in on the next race setup that comes around.

Still haven't closed the deal on this 28 apache..........................ALRIGHT, what do you want for her and with which engine.:D

Well, you already have the hatch. . . . you could take it back off and see if mikeb4 would trade you the rest of the shogren boat to go with it! :D

And just how do we get that logo embroidered on the back of our shirts??
:eek::eek:

I had you pegged more for marketing with some of your quotes:

"86db, I fart louder than 86db".

"I probably stick out like a boner in sweat pants".

You just have a way with words. Makes me think you could sell ice-cubes to an Eskimo.:D

We should start a new thread for this topic
"Chasing the unattainable"
I believe that with any sport or hobbies you become obsessed with, you can cross an invisible line and loose your innocence.
Now the object of your desire no longer has the same thrill and you can go back to the way it was. I've had this happen with several things-weight lifting, street cars, and now I see it happening with boats.
