He personally drove it well into the 90's when it was new. So I know it is capable. Just not sure what is holding it back now.
Looking at the huffer looks like a smaller pulley, but I don't know if its a 6 or 8/71 blower. It says in the classifieds that the blower "is set" at 3 psi of boost, which would mean top or bottom pulleys or both. It also depends on the compression ratio of the engine, too high of boost and you won't be able to run pump gas easily, either.

I have to admit it's a very CLEAN bad-azz boat but just not very practical for my type of boating.
Practicality has never been one of my strong suits... I'd rather have a full cabin and better bench seat for passengers, but I haven't found a '03 with 15 hrs for 50k... yet. Either way, I probably can't afford it anyway, and it'll be sold before I can get financially situated.
But I'd like to own a triple digit Pantera someday though. It just seems like 4 of 5 boats you read about in PB mag are triple digit. I just have visions of putting my buddy's 29 Baja with 2x496's to shame.

Dude, 4 of 5 boats you read about in Powerboat that run over the century also have an extra zero in the price (ahead of the decimal).

I never saw a mph claim but I do remember seeing 750hp in one of their ads. But now none of them are claiming hp. Maybe it made 750hp at 5 or 6 lbs? Either way, 750hp isn't going to crack tripple digits but I would think 90 is possible.

Did you ask Scott or Greg about the pulley(s) and boost?

Just wanted to add that I'd never heard of the century on this boat. Jo drove it a bit over 90, as I recall, and there was speculation that with the addition of the intercooler it should be a bit faster.

I've only heard of one 28 Pantera that runs The Number...

I saw 92-93 MPH consistent with a 31' labbed 4 blade at 5400-5500 RPM on delivery and then a Chiller was installed bumping up the power a bit more.I never ran it with the Chiller. Gary Grimes was the engine builder out of the Atlanta, Ga. area. If I can help answer any questions on this 28' just let me know.

"Runs 95-102 GPS" is what Scott told me when I enquired about the speed.

The wording in the classified ad changed to "set at 3lbs of boost" Friday, after we test drove the boat and saw that it was only running to 80 with the gauge at 3lbs.

It's still a cool boat. I was just dissappointed in the top end.

I think there's a national conspiracy to keep all the big HP Pantera's under 85 mph!

I'll bet Reggie's behind this!

Did Scott have an explanation at all as to why it only ran 80?

I agree killer boat but knowing Jo has ran it 90+ makes you wonder what is going on!

If its 750hp, then it should run about 85 mph. No way its gonna run 95mph with that HP.

Also, a chiller will reduce boost pressures. So if it was orignally set up at 4# and the same pulleys were left on, then 3#'s is reasonable.
