My 24 with the 600+ HP did 89 in fresh water. Previous owner had it radared at 92 in salt water.

We both ran a 29P Mirage (not the plus) I still have the prop which is in excellent condition for sale.

Let me know. Be safe and wear your lanyard!!

Scarabman I just realized two things. #1 you have a set of the very rare Volvo 600s built by Innovation in your boat. Very nice! #2 I know who has your old Pantera! ;)

Is it the A34 boat? Three man bolster? If it is I know who has it too.

Is this a 24 with 3man bolsters? Does anyone have any pics of this boat, interior especially? I'd like to see what 3 man bolster setup looks like. Thanks again. Troy

A little off the topic but how many times have you used the boat so far?
If you are using it how many times have you run it at 60+mph as it sits?
If not why the rush to go faster when you havent gotten used to the boat as it is yet?
Is the boat in decent useable condition now?
I see your looking to borrow money to fix up the boat.
Ill go a bit off the beaten track here since I am usually broke moneywise and say if the boat is usable ,USE IT , then worry about upgrading. It much easier and more fun to just use the thing and little by little go upgrading the small stuff to your liking and build an engine along the way than tearing it apart to redo it all. No matter what you budget it will cost twice that,,ask anyone who has ever redone a boat or a car.. In the meantime youll have an extra loan to pay off and a boat sitting around doing nothing. Thats a nice looking ride,if it was mine I would be out on it every chance I had till it needed some real fixin. :)

That's exactly what what everyone else tells me!! but I've never owned a stock anything...
The boat is run-able... sort of... Carb needs rebuild, hatch needs some mods to get mounted. Current exhaust is welded and needs a new one, and I'm rebuilding the trailer now..
For me, and I may be the only one on here, but I enjoy the building up part as much or more than actually driving the boat.
This boat has a lot of pontential, someone has started the build, now I just want to finish it. I've never redone a boat, but have build up a few old muscle cars, and my other hobby is long-travel sand cars... I'm familiar with build-ups and I've lost my ass on things before... I think if there's a boat that you could put a little money into and have a lot of fun with the older Pantera's rank right up there... Just look at this forum of all of kickass Pantera build ups...

P.S. and also Superboat, Monza, etc...

BTW, I've never put this boat in the water, and I've never ridden in a Pantera.. I've like them since I first heard about them thru a friend and always wanted one...

All I wanted to know was what's it takes to make a 24' Pantera run 80 mph.

ScottB 09-12-2007 02:30 PM

I run 82 with 600hp, but my boat is a little heavy. I run 400lbs of fixed weight in various spots in the nose so I can run that fast in most conditions

Scott, aint that the point? who wants to just go fast in flat water? If i was running in 1ft or less, i'd rather have a cat. These boats were built to cut it up, not be the fastest w/ the least hp. so it take plenty of oomph to get em going.
And i'd say if you wanted to run 80... don't do less than 600hp. Cuz if you only do 550, and only hit 77-78, you'll be pizzed.
While you're doing it, do it right.
