HELP!
Seats and footrests look great Tom, I am hoping you go for the SCX, as much as the speedys are cool looking, the Bravo type transom cutout is here to stay and the pure mechanical shifting drives are here to stay or merc would have used a hyd tranny for the NXT instead of the cone clutch tranny. Any wet sump twin pinion drives take considerable more power to run than a drysump or a bravo type drive. The SCX transom might even accept the std bravo drive if there were a failure you could run a merc drive temporarily until the IMCO was repaired, with a speedy you have very few options to have or borrow a spare drive, it has to be the right shaft size, ratio, rotation, etc..... Don't get me wrong here on the value of the 5, It is a great drive but it will become the TRS of the future as far as parts availibility. If the SCX has provision to allow air to vent or fill the gap behind the prop hub so that speeds are similar to a std bravo type drive then it is a winner. When my SP drive failed last summer I had many people helping me try to find a quicker solution but I ran into the problems of ratio, rotation, shaft size, transom fitment, etc, etc so I was out until my drive was fixed, If i had had a bravo type drive I could have borrowed another drive and been back boating the next day.

thanks for the info Chris. I am pretty sure the SCX is the drive for me. As long as they continue to have good reviews. I will most likely
reduce the boost a little to help the drive live.

tomcei, I just came across your thread !!!! WOW, nice job on your boat. I see your hooked on the SCX, give the guys at Max Worx a call, looks like they have a nice XR type drive, good luck. Gary

Super, What drive are you running? Has it been reliable with 800?

IRONMAN, we broke an XR upper in 3 hours ( had 280 hours on it, with a merc racing 600sci, ran hard for 3 years ) just did a new upper, and rebuilt the lower, I will run her this week. Myself like Tom am looking into the SCX ( looks great ) also as I said in the above post, the Max Worx looks like another possible drive to the XR.

Ironman. Can you elaborate on this.
