Video Clips - "28 Shogren Pantera"
I have had a great week off with my boat, I pulled together a video using some clips from my Flip Video Camera with different runs/days and some still pix as well .... I used Windows Movie Maker for a first time video creation so it's not perfect but it was fun to do on a rainy day today.
I decided to start a new thread instead of adding to the huge Shogren thread ...... let me know what you think ... thanks! :food-smiley-007: Mike |
Look's Nice . " Bring's Back Memory's Of My 28 "
Just Becareful On Those Hole Shot's They Will Eat Your Drive :) |
how fast?
|
thanks Mike. looks great.
|
Thanks! just started prop tuning, I have about 10 hours on the engine and have only run a stock 26 Bravo I so far ....... scratching at 70 freshwater calm day.
Very nice 57 MPH midrange at 4,000 RPM with the stock 26 B1 ... boat feels like its running effortless at that speed where I spend most of my time :D |

Sorry, Im just getting back into the boating thing. Did you buy this thing used at Shogren, hence the name? Or are they goig to sell Panteras now.
Sorry for the stupid question, just curious. |
No worries ..... the boat has a infamous history of being homeless a lot of it's life, even though it's a somewhat unique setup with the F1 rigging, light layup/no liner and a back seat, check this ->
http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...d.php?t=166069 I bought it used without power from Shogren last September and re-rigged it over the winter more like a rec boat posting updates here on OSO. And basically here it is finished! |

Ah, did you get the sides repainted to get rid of the "eyes?" I ask because there is a 24' Pantera for sale on this site, and I really like the boat except the eyes. Just curious how much was involved with getting rid of them...
AR15 just did the same thing - similar boat ..... http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...d.php?t=185225 |
Cool Video !! The boat looks & sound great !! & Yes I am fighting Jealousy esp. after seeing that Joepaws is about to go fire up that bad 36 & burn some fuel himself.... As I was watching your Video my wife asked whos boat that was & then Just said : I'm sorry !! She knows its not easy for a dude to just sit & watch others play.... Its like a kid who has been grounded for the entire summer & just so happens to live accross the street from the playground...... lol....
Not sure if the Eyes on the Black 24 are decals or not... I know they usually are but for some reason I want to think that the eyes on the black 24 SE are either all paint , or atleast have some airbrushing done on the decals... Although Please don't take my word for it , but I really think they are paint.... |
Yea, they are, I thought they were.
Plus there is way too much engine in that boat for me, Id be happy with a 24 and a 496 HO at most. http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...ght=pantera+24 |
Tristar - Not sure where you are located but if I am correct & the eyes are painted & not decals don't let that discourage you from buying the boat b/c I just so happen to know a certain individual here in my area that could help you out... Besides he could always use some extra cash to help him get ungrounded & closer to a splash date & smelling smoke himself !! lol.....

50k is not bad, if that boat is still in that condition. |
Thanks but not too much sympathy Scott !! you have, and have owned a significant collection of awesome toys! and that Saber is wicked cool! can't wait to see her out busting waves!
I guess the eyes could be either way ..... back in the 80's we used to use Oven Cleaner to take stupid names off the sides without hurting the gelcoat or repainting ...... does that still work?

As for the oven cleaner I'm not sure on that one , However It would greatly depend on what was used for paint... I would think it has some sort of Urethane on it , whether it be a single stage , or base-Clear either one... I doubt oven cleaner would touch it but I have been know to be wrong on occasion... |
Sweet Video. Thanks for sharing. I need to add that to my Myspace page. lol
|
looks like it has a pretty damn good hole shot!
|
Great Video Mike !!! Motor sounds real good and boat looks great.Glad you are enjoying the boat.
JO |
It's funny but watching the video again it does look like the boat is coming on plane quickly, and it does a nice job especially considering the high F1 positioned "X" dimension with a step but I'm never on the stick hard .... especially with everything I have read on Bravo's!
I would like to try a Maximus but I'm afraid of the Bravo big single 500+ HP with a five blade even with my X Drive with the bigger top end .......... |
Very cool. Looks like you could almost run the boat from the back seat. LOL
Got any more pics of you standing at the wheel? Is the floor lowered on this boat or standard? |

One surprise for me with this set-up is the area on each side of the bolsters have become the forward sunpads  ..... cool recreational feature coming from race seats, they end up being used all the time! I thought I was not going to like the bolsters when I first bought the boat. It's kind of like having two lounge chairs built in .... the ladies like chillin' up high with a great view and it's super comfortable. |
Looks great, glad you are enjoying it, I love my 24, just wish it were a little faster, but thats my fault, gotta save for a bigger motor.

Mike, big thumbs up! I've been waiting to here how she'd run. I ran mine with a maximus and the boat loved it. Don't try a 5 blade unless you plan on buying one. It's hard to go back! :D

I haven't been out since May. Been busy beyond belief and just haven't had the time to drag the boat down to the ramp. Hoping to get out this month though!
|
Hey... just saw this thread. Looks awesome Mike. Great video. Thanks for killing the tunes to hear the motor. Love the boat. Brings back memories.... from my sea trial last summer on Lake Michigan!
Loads of fun and I'm still picking the bugs out of my teeth from the speed runs! |
Thanks! yeah I am kind of a freak when it comes to listening to the engine instead of anything else ..... anytime I am driving something special, or I drive by a hot car I roll the windows down just to listen to the engine. My kind of Music Baby! :cool-smiley-027:
