I have a 24 with a single outboard, i have toyed with selling.

bertgyver 08-26-2008 09:32 PM

One of my customers gives me good deals on I/O parts so I would like to go with that setup. Thanks for offering.

Courtholl 08-27-2008 09:53 AM

Where are you located and what are you looking to spend? I am not sure if I would sell, but we have an 89 with a 502. May be too turnkey for you.

What kind of speed do you get out of that setup? Just curious, I have seen your boat in other threads and it looks pretty nice. Do you have any interion/cabin shots as well?

bertgyver 08-27-2008 04:43 PM

I was hoping to find something under 15k.I just put my location on the board.

CIG3 08-27-2008 07:22 PM

There was one a Liter Marine a fw months ago. Right in your back yard. Check for an old post in this forum started by me. Sounded like a nice project. Timing just didn't work out for me.

Thanks for the compliment. I am getting 58 out of a tired old 225 carb fishin motor, I ran out of money after doing the hull, so I had to clamp on what I could afford. I am sure with a fresh 250 or 300 I could get it in the high 60's at least. Here are a few more pics.

The cabin is pretty bare, as it was just a glass race setup when I got it, boat was originally a race setup with twin 2.4's, but was converted to a single when I bought it. It does have a killer stereo with 1600 watts of amps, 10" subs, and 4 6.5's:drink:

I ALMOST wish I had one with an I/O, but these 2 strokes are just so damn reliable, and I dont use much gas either:ernaehrung004:

Belongs to a guy ....Tom A. I thinnk?

bertgyver 08-28-2008 11:13 PM

Just curious as that boat has been around the block a few times.

I saw it at Miller's?Jacks/Keans etc when it was newer. A couple guys on it always with a couple girls....yada..yada..yada..1978 or so.

Engine blown; rigging wrecked; heard boat had flipped years back..injuries. No outdrive...cutout for an Alpa/ bottom blistering is extensive/ rumors it hooks.. left.. from the owners friend.. poor bennett tabs hanging off.

Is it a repo?

It's basically totalled.

A decent '78 used 24'er goes for $10k...too risky of a project....

OPA 08-29-2008 08:00 PM

hydro

the red boat is a 87 i have owned four 24 pantera's including this one i bought it in the shape it is in. as far as it being totalled i don't know what you are talking about? i have had 24's from 330 hp to 500hp and never had one pull to the left, so if you know more about 24's than me i am all ears.

Hydrocruiser 08-29-2008 08:20 PM

It has sat uncovered / unused in Michigan in the SCS or Harrison TWP area for near 20 years.

Maybe it hooked because the bennets were a bit bent?

Was it a bank repo?

bertgyver 09-02-2008 11:19 PM

It only needs to be washed and waxed, then it would perfect for me.Of course I've been drinkin' today!Who's going to nooner 2?

Are you dead set on a 24? or are you looking at 28's also?

Elite Marine 09-03-2008 08:10 PM

There are a couple 28s in the classifieds. One less power, but can be added if desired

Bromaguire 09-03-2008 10:08 PM

I just bought a 24' Python which is the same hull as the pantera and its awesome. Its my first boat its great in rough water and hits 75mph with the 454. Lots of fun so far.

Dono77056 09-04-2008 07:16 AM

Buying a python to pantera owners is like telling Rolex owners you bought a Rolex in Mexico, looks similar and tells time but thats where it stops.

Thats fine but considering its the same exact hull and does pretty much everything that a pantera could do, I think my opinion is valid. Also for my first boat and only being 21 I think its pleanty for me for now. In a year or so I will upgrade to something nicer. And I am not sure Panteras are the Rolex's of boats.

Any pics of your boat? What speeds are you getting with it?

bertgyver 09-05-2008 01:30 AM

My boat went 110mph,then the trailer tires blew!

Not knocking Pythons at all but there really is no comparison. They are a nice boat but the build quality is night and day. Remember, Panteras are built to be raced and have a lifetime warranty on the hull. And the hulls are not exactly the same. There are a lot of 24/7 boats and most of them have very subtle differences that make big differences on the water.

You have a great boat and I wish I had something like that at your age. But remember you are in the Pantera forum, not the general section. So coming in and saying your Python can do everything a Pantera can do could ruffle some feathers. :D

I've run with some similar boats and when the going gets rough the Pantera starts to shine. My little 24 has surprised a lot of bigger boats!

Here's a pic of ScottyB showing what a Pantera can do!

Dono77056 09-05-2008 10:10 AM

One's a lesser quality Knock off....you'll know the difference when you open your checkbook or go to sell it. Looks similar. Pantera's are hand built and have unbelievable support, primarily race boats.

The one thing that really stands out over all other brands including fountain and cigarette, is when you call the factory the owners asnwer the phone, not new owner or business guys but people who created the boat, race the boat and have for over 30 years. Another amazing thing send a picture to pepe or jo and they can tell you off the top of their head in most cases who has owned the boat. In addition, they will completely upgrade modify or refurbish your existing boat. Very nice people and generous with their time; speaks volumes about their product.

Python is great place to start for a 21 year old; at least you didnt go bayliner. As for as speed on mine, one asian girl, two latin chicas and one white girl for 4 outings this summer. Thats the top end results I'm more concerned with and being safe.

Scotty did that for a couple of years of racing with it, spent more time in the air than on the water.......and the boat took it like only a Pantera can!:cool-smiley-011:

ps: I am looking for another 24 sport. Will trade my very nice Donzi 18 + $$.

Dang, that's much better than i ever got.
Thats almost the kinda results clay washington gets.

Dono77056 09-05-2008 01:17 PM

Clay was in sight....I don't know him but personally but was trading text messages with one of the Claymates....he definitely had a boatful....there was probably 5K to 6K people tied up in Devils Cove on Travis, Sunday. That place has to be up there in the top 5 party places with Havasu and Lake of the Ozarks.

Sounds like a cool boat but when you are 21 and it is your first boat telling these guys that you know a Python is the same as a Pantera and can perform just as well is asking for trouble.

I am only 3 years older than you, I own a pretty cool Pantera but I dont go into the Cig forum and tell people it can out perform a Mystique. Maybe it can but I wouldnt have a hope in hell of having any clue.

Try a different approach in future and you can likely get alot of help on this Website. It is a fantastic tool and there is alot of cool stuff and boats to admire and shoot the **** with the owners.

Enjoy. :ernaehrung004:

Now back on track.

Bertgyver, good luck finding your 24. I think that is a very wicked boat!

Maybe you can find that old Army race boat.....now that one would be wicked.......I own the middle child.....Jo has the big brother....:evilb:

I've been thinking about selling the Corsa. I know it's not a Pantera but I think it might be worth a look for some of you guys that are looking. Besides, Corsa dosen't have a forum and I have to hang out somewhere:p Anyway I told Bert about it so has has first dibs. I will also sell without power. Let me know if anybody is interested. First off I didn't come into this thread saying my python could out perform any other boat. I only said, "I just bought a 24' Python which is the same hull as the pantera and its awesome. Its my first boat its great in rough water and hits 75mph with the 454. Lots of fun so far." Doesn't seem like I am implying my boat is better or worse than any other boats, just that I like mine and I am happy with it. Honestly you can come at me saying I put down your almighty pantera but I only defened myself when another member decided they felt it neccessary to point out that my boat is as good as a pantera.

I don't think a pantera would be any better for me either. I am just figuring out boating and clearly don't have the experience to notice what I would assume is just a more solid hull that the pantera provides would do for me. I didn't buy my boat for racing so weather or not it was built for that doesn't do anything for me because I won't be racing it.

Since you guys feel that the pantera is such a superior boat capable of things my Python couldn't do would someone educate me and point out a few things I would be able to accomplish in a 24' pantera that I couldn't do with my 24' python?

I think this statement is what ruffled some feathers. These two are not even close to the same hull.

Now that doesn't mean you have a "bad" boat. If your boat does what you want it to then it's a good boat. Like I said this is the Pantera forum so tread lightly and you will make friends. 99% of the people in this forum believe the Pantera 24 is the best rough water 24/7 out there.

Saying you have a similar boat and you love it would have been better. :D
