24 Plum Loco

Who has any pics of Plum loco's engine?

Anyone remember exactly details of the power?

no limits 05-17-2010 08:54 PM

Jo might. I had pics of boat from a couple years ago, but can't find. Did this boat get redone at Pantera? The engine from what I was told was a 360-364 C.I. built by some car engine builder in Panama City. Performance something. 13:1 compression around 600HP w/big headers. All I know.

Pantera24 05-17-2010 09:13 PM

Thanks Nick that info helps. I spoke to Pepe and he gave me some info. also.

These 2 websites are confusing. Going back and forth and back and forth. Just like the racing circuits...can't we just have one? I see alot of the same people on both. Can't we all get along?:party-smiley-020:

Dude I agree....the more I do this back and forth, I realize that I look for new postings on the "other" site and refer to this one for more historical info. since it has been around longer. :lolhit:

Yes I agree, I wish this was the only site.

Blowa...Mota as they say..hmmm

Now I was under the impression it ran 85+ with it's original high comp. SBC and then I heard it ran over 100+ with a different motor....I'm assuming this is the motor it ran over 100 with..?

What details do you know Crash-Box if any on speed?

No Sir !!!
It was definitely a 600 ++ H.P. motor, no doubt !
Not much over a 100 mph, but still triple digits
for a 24' in a mild chop. Lo-Lo-Lo-Loco !!!!

Angel, I heard the same as you. 85+ w/original small block. Not sure about the small block w/the blower, but ran 103 w/a big block 700/750HP. The big block was the last motor in it according to the guy who owns it now...at least I think he still owns it. Did someone say this boat was getting a redo at Pantera?

MUGSHOT 05-29-2010 09:56 PM

Plum Loco was a great boat back in the day. However, I remember seeing a white Pantera three man 28 with a big blower motor in Miami. I saw them run pass 95 mph boats in the Miami intercoastal, have not seen that boat in a long time.

Is it the same Albert that races a 38 foot Cigarrete. If it is, not to many people can run that 28 the way I saw run out of government cut against a 33 Powerplay and blew his doors in 4 foot seas.

Yes! Albert reminds me of several Cuban racers back when racing was offshore. Pepe Nunez and his son, Pete Hidalgo, Willie Diaz, Humberto Picon, Manny Fernandez, Sal Magluta, Willie Falcon to name a few.

Hi Mugshot,

Thank you for your compliments. However, I stand no where near the guys mentioned above. They will always be the Pioneers who started it all. In order to be a successful racer, you can not have fear. You need to push the boat above and beyond without fear. With that said not everyone can race and be succesfull. Just wearing a jacket and a helmet dose not make you a racer. I have yet to see anyone run a 28 ft Pantera like Jo. If I remember you from a couple years ago, you raced back in the 70/80`s.

Albert

Hi Mugshot,

I smoked a lot of so called big power boats with the Mig. Maybe you were the one in the Powerplay and you can get over the fact that I came from behind in Govertment Cut while your buddy was hitting you to go go go, and I screamed right by you and left you to dream. Sorry I had to say that, but I had a lot of dreamers turn back when the Mig would take offfff. I know I am a cocky SOB, cant have it any other way. My good old saying with the Mig was Bring It.......With that said, wish I had her, still have her motor in tact to make your dream come true.....

Albert you are too funny, I like that. I raced back in the day and a race against you would have been a joy. I was not the one in the Powerplay that day, wish I was, it would have been a diffrent story. I was in a white 32 Renegade with some friends and could not catch up to you. With that said, I dont have the power you had in the Pantera, but I know how to run in open water just like you. I was put away for many years for running back in forth in open water. Pm sent to you, give me a call....

Albert noone can understand the Mig unless they have ridden it. Its one of those things you tell people and they think you're lieing. They could only wish they had ridden it and for the ones that did, they know what we are talking about. Hope you had a nice fathers day with your princess. Idk if you have been told but the Pantera is back in the stable and looking like no other 24 OB...swing by
