Question For Jo
Jo I have another one or your boats:drink:. We used it last weekend and are probably done for the year. While running I have to run the tabs at a little over 3 to stop the porposing, that is at a cruising speed. I think it is over propped some because I am only able to turn around 4200-4300 rpm and I am guessing from what Neversatisfied said that at those rpm's I am doing between 70-75 ish. He was running beside us. I don't know what size props they are yet because I have not been able to get them off. Previous owner said he never took them off. Anyways, Jo any ideas on getting it to stop porposing so bad? I am planing on atleast a new back seat this winter, and a cover, maybe a whole new interior. It also needs some carb work.

Hi Dale,
I am glad you purchased another Pantera 28' Twin. My Father sold your 28' back in 1986 as a hull and deck only with upholstery and hardware. He did not rig it. I was 15 years old at the time so I do not have much info. to offer you. I would need to see pictures of your set up and props to give you better advice. Are the props spinning in or out ? Does it do it when the drives are tucked in all the way or when trimmed ? How much fuel was in the tank ? When you deal with speedmaster drives and props the set up is quite different than Bravo 1 drives and 4 blade bravo 1 props on your other Pantera 28'. It seems to me that your RPM is down from where it needs to be. Call Dave at MDG Performance in Maryland since I think he worked on that 28' of yours while stored at his Marina. Dave is a very experienced engine builder with many years of experience. JO |
Jo, it does it wether drives are in or out. The props are spinning out. The higher the rpm the less tab needed, and I understand that. The tank was full when we started. I was just wondering if there was something I could do to not have to use so much tab at lower rpms?
As far as rpm's being down, I think the props might be a little big. The motors were checked out and were fine with 150lbs on every cylinder. |
bigboat - add more power!
Not even kidding. I think that combo needs a bit more power to run right. The hull is trying to work but doesnt have the umph to get there. In the meantime grab a real small set of props just to let the motor buzz up a bit easier. Should change the attitude of the boat a bunch. Just my .02. |
My props are 15 3/8x 26. I would like to add some power evdentually.

Did you get yhem off?
