Pantera makes a great boat, but let's put down the crack pipe when were talking about speed. My 28 pleasure single I raced for 2 years had a 540 ci 650 hp and ran 75 to 77 mph . My kryptonite 27 with a retuned version of that same engine making 600 hp ran 87 mph. I built all the engines, so I know what they were.
Twin496 ho power, at least in the 2001 pantera I rode in at the factory turned 26 b1 props , so if you do the calc you can figure out the speed .

Again, great boat , killer in the ocean and rough water, but let's keep it real with the speeds.

Ask Green Eyes about Kryptos and Panteras in the ocean :D

just wondering...what's the speed difference between a 28 stepped single and a 28 non-stepped single (say a merc 525)? I am curious on twins too, but I don't think Pantera has built a twin stepped 28.

Berk 01-26-2012 03:49 AM

Jo Nunez told me that %10 higher. well i will be able test when i have mine...

Stormrider 01-26-2012 07:54 AM

I dont think they'll build a twin bbc 28SR.
IIRC, Jo said it would sit too low.
Now he may do it in an twin sbc, or twin sbc stagger.

Staggered blown/injected twin SBC would be the way to go, that boat would ROCK, and be reliable!!!

Fast Fun which boat was better?

That is what Jo told me as well. I think a 525 non-stepped boat ran around 70mph so a stepped hull should run 77mph. Just my edumacated guess. :D

Berk 01-26-2012 02:15 PM

as i said, i will have the chance to try if i get my boat sometime...

That the Pantera is a helluva rough water boat!

The Krypto tends to fly a little straighter, but thats mostly throttleman. the Pantera will NEVER land hard, the krypto does everyonce in a while...very hard.

paul buckner 01-27-2012 01:24 AM

Somebody must have bought the first stepped boat buy now ,that was a real cool looking boat , i am sure it had the 525hp so someone must know how fast the stepped will go with 525hp

Berk 01-27-2012 06:03 AM

as far as i know, there are 3 boats still under construction. i do not want to give the name of other friends; i am one of them....
