Well...I must say that this is an interesting thread. It seems we have a boat that was mistreated, abused, and probably damaged beyond reasonable repair. The issue is not whether it CAN be brought back to life..but at what cost ? According to one enthusiastic member...."nothing is junk"..."nothing is beyond repair". That may be true, but when do you say "uncle" ? This same member asked if a core sample was taken. Well, if you go with his theory...what would the core sample matter ? Everything is fixable right ? A few people on this site actually SAW the boat...the parts...and the surroundings it was in. I'm assuming these werent the only guys that looked at this vessel...probably dozens more that we dont even know about....AND ITS STILL FOR SALE !!! That right there should speak volumes as to the condition its in. It sucks to walk away from something, but once in awhile things just hafta be let go. There are ships at the bottom of the great lakes. Been there for many, many years. I guess someone could say they are still "fixable"...but is it realistic ? No. Too much time, money, grief, and politics. Hence the phrase "just not worth it".
I would think that theres gotta be someone on this site that lives near this boat that would go on an adventure, take some GOOD pictures (lots), and maybe some video of the hull, trailer, and the parts that come with it...then post them on here. I know I would if I could. :drink:

So, I'm gonna side with the guys who have actually seen the carnage...touched the boat...and smelled the mold and algea. Someone who hasnt done any of the above...has only speculation to go by. :drink:

Well put.

I have close, personal knowledge of this boat. I can say that it is indeed a project, no argument there, but it`s not nearly as bad as has been reported here.
I can say that all offers will be entertained, I have no plans to restore this boat.
Sell parts ? Maybe ...

At the end of the day it`s still a 28' Pantera and it`s not a lot of money.

If it doesn't have a core which I think has already been said that it does not, then so what if it's wet?
As I posted earlier, a bare hull on a beater trailer is worth what???
Now what if it's a 28' Pantera that there ain't many of??
Don't scare me.

With the price of scrap metal these days, that`s really not a bad deal at $400.

Try again.

I know this add expired but just wanted something else to compare it with. http://www.racingjunk.com/Used-Boats...hore-Race.html
Not to mention that I have also seen 2 complete running ones with 502's go for about 15K in the past 2 years.

Transom, stringers, floor, cockpit side panels and dash are all still cored. The only thing not cored is the hull itself.

Very true.

I've done several ground up restorations and you never get your money back. But for a guy that has more time than money, has the tools and knowledge, and place to do it....., so he's not paying someone elses labor or storage fee's......, and maybe even enjoys the challenge or feeling of accomplishment.......
I'd look at another one if I had inside storage.
You have to want the end result to make it even worth considering.

I re-cored, stringer'd, painted, rigged etc a 17' Hydrostream a 100 yrs ago and said if I sold the thing for $100K, paid for my material and divided my labor into what was left I'd have made about .11c per hr ;)

Similar to the 24' Sonic I just finished. Will never get that time/money out of it either but the satisfaction is going to the Miami show and not seeing anything under $120K that I would trade even for.

You buy something used you never know what you're getting. In a restoration (assuming done proper) you end up w/your rigging, wiring, motors etc, etc. So you can't even accurately compare to something similar that is used.
