time to start looking for a swim platform. and i want drive and trim indicators. let me work on some pics. prob take a few tomorrow since its already dark out.

Just Me but i hope it runs better and more reliably than a Rolex! Any one i've ever had was more jewelry Than Time piece! Congrats on the new boat, Looks Great!

only took it out for a short run yesterday. seems to ride similar to the single. a little a$$ heavy but the power makes up for it all the way. we were out in some rough water yesterday and it did just fine. maybe go on lunch today again then winterize it and put it away tonight.

a little winter representation on the snowmobile trailer too lol

ar15meister 11-21-2011 07:44 AM

congratulations.

where on lake ontario? I also boat there.

88bullet 11-21-2011 09:16 AM

i boat in wilson ny or the lower niagara river. ever come this way?? how far from buffalo are you??

hp500efi 11-21-2011 03:04 PM

I have been in that boat a few times with TT (Bruce) and it was always a blast of a ride. The 28 Pantera is a wave crusher. Best thing about it is that not everyone has a Pantera so they are unique where ever you boat. Congrats on the purchase, Bruce took great care of her.

Be careful with that sticker on that snowmobile trailer. 99.9% of people will think of you as a Artia Cat owner......

IRONMAN 11-21-2011 08:49 PM

Hey Iron I got to the shop today and long story short you might have to wipe my drool off your boat...my bad :D

littledcsrodshop 11-21-2011 11:23 PM

Great ride & choice..!! I've always thought that was a great looking boat and attempted a short effort to track that same boat down several years ago myself

Amen, from an ole redneck boy who's traveled the road himself.. On a total side note I gotta say that Ironman Chris was a total class act to deal with a while back, and I hope the ole gal is doing well !! As for the great state of TN, Chris (duunoit) and I have been addicts for a while now & we are glad to pass the torch, curse & disease on for a little while,... haha !!!

That is not Cherry Bomb.

Fred Cecil aka Trick Marine purchased the boat from a dealer in 2001 or so. If I remember correctly, I don't think it had ever been wet before he bought it.
It had new interior from Pantera and the dealer rigged it with some older engines. Fred had it for less than a year and put it up for sale.
It was for sale for about a week and I inquired about it and was told there was a deal pending.
Bruce--OSO screen name "Thirsty Turtle" bought it from Fred Cecil and has owned it ever since. He had the 502mpi's installed.

Thirsty Turtle 11-22-2011 05:20 AM

Griff has the history correct.

I ran the 330 hp carb 454's for the 2002 summer, but was always futzing with them. The 502 MPI's had 80 hrs on them, and came out of a 34 Eliminator in TX. Some friends and I did the engine R&R over a weekend in September 2002 and never looked back. The 502's really woke up the boat and have been turn key reliable.

88bullet has a folder with documents begining with the Pantera MSO, the rigging dealer, the previous owner, and myself.

We originally were looking for a 24. When we saw the ad for this 28 we thought, that's our weapon!

Ironically, we drove 15+ hours to get this boat out of South Carolina and back to MN

88bullet, bummer you couldn't meet my wife while you were here. After hearing that you have the boat in heated storage she thinks you are a good egg, and the boat will like you better because you are already treating her better than we did. :lolhit:

88bullet 11-22-2011 07:24 AM

LOL she is tucked away in heated storage as of last night. got the full cover on it to keep the dust out. this is gonna be a long winter thats for sure. a friend of mine took a road trip this wekend like me to go pick up a 38 fountain in virginia. we can drink beers and snowmobile and talk about how great a summer we are going to have next year lol. i think im gonna put some exhaust on it just gil's or something like that, a swim platform, trim indicators and maybe external steering for next year. it runs real nice so we will stick with this set up for a little bit.

10 more months til lake cumberland!!

slpcamaross97 11-22-2011 07:27 AM

Thirsty... Didnt you also own that black mid 90s single pantera with the palm trees on the side?

Nope, but I believe it came from the same place my old white one did. That one looked pretty rough from what I remember.

88bullet 11-22-2011 07:11 PM

didnt get a gps on it. the speedo was bouncing in the 75-80 area but who knows how accurate it is

Pics of gimble bushings and hinge pins are not too exciting however, when the gimble and drive are stout what is the next logical item to update:drink:

Did you figure out why your rpm was low?

88bullet 12-15-2011 06:57 PM

not yet. the boat is in storage for the winter. im going to do a tune up plugs wires cap rotor. just things that havent been done in a while. 1 motor has a very slight misfire that can be felt at idle so i could be down a cyl when im running. all littlle stuff to do in the spring. i need to get the indicators on so i know where my drives are since 1 moves a little faster than the other. cant wait for summer!!!

B.A. 12-26-2011 10:02 PM

msd

Hey Man congrat's on getting the boat you really wanted! Opinions are like a$$holes but if you dont have msd on those motors yet please do it was like night and day difference for the 454 mag efi that I had a couple of years ago. Mine also had the miss at idle until i put on msd 6al marine ign. It also would crank at the bump of key even with battery fairly low

88bullet 12-27-2011 07:03 AM

LOL i had a msd on my 98 yukon. it got rid of the infamous GM misfire at idle too. when i traded the truck in i took the msd off and the truck wouldnt start because the cap and rotor was soo beat. the factory ignition wouldnt jump the gap lol. couple more months to go!!!!

B.A. 12-29-2011 09:08 PM

msd

I dont doubt that at all but the 96-00 vortec ign sucks anyway. I was just making helpful comment based on exp I had with mine in the past. I have no long term exp with msd ign and probably never will again. All my toys have wheels two diesels and two gas lexus-never need msd, and 92 z conv with ls1 still no need for msd. But anyway man enjoy your boat that is one thing I wont have for a while but when I do it will be a pantera for sure.
