i had my first break down yesterday. lost a fuel pump on my twin about 15 miles from home. i was about 5 miles from a nearby launch. had a friend of mine sit on the bow of the boat. tabs down, left drive in right drive up all the way. 3k rpm it got on plane picked the tabs up and we made it to the launch. couldnt idle since we were battling about a 10mph current in the river to the launch or my other option was 15 miles of 3-4 footers on lake ontario. got the pumps ordered and should be back running for the weekend!! gotta love twins

With the right prop and some finesse, we can bring the 37s up on plane with one motor/drive. I don't know if you could do it with a 38PP, but it might could be done with a low pitch prop and a lot of bite. Sometimes you have to rock back and forth to get it to ease up.

Years ago, after blowing 4 engines in 6 months I got frustrated one day and got my old Baja 36 OL on plane with one tab up and one down. I kept it in the water, it was halfway through the summer and I used it the rest of the summer on one engine....I didn't care at that point. No p/s and it really wasn't that bad to dock. Went 56 mph with one tab up and one half way down.....all this with a blower motor hooked to a b1x...thought for sure the drive would have gave out.
That boat hated me, learned a lot of lessons the hard way.

I always check to see if mine will plane on one. If it does not (and if you have bravo's) get a small used large diameter or 5 blade junker off of eBay right or left does not matter. As long as you don't have a real high X and can change a prop in the water you can get home on plane.

I lost a starter one evening and could not get on plane with one engine. I tried a picking one drive up as far as the tie bar would allow and the running drive all the way down. I also had 5 people and 100 gal of fuel. I could get moving but it kept blowing the prop out and falling back in the water. Long long long night back idling back.
