pass the knowledge on to them how to do stuff right

Yup. Most likely stronger too.

Do you get to say you have a 2013 Pantera when you've built it yourself and have a used drive train in it ?

maybe we should side track this thread a little more away from underloads build and what year his hull and drive train is and dig into that conversation about scams, theft, charities, poker runs, plea deals, chris sunkin, children.... you know all that good stuff??? any takers???

Speaking of which, did anyone else get a strange e-mail from Pantera? I think their e-mail may have gotten hacked.

I received probably the same "strange" email also... I checked with JO and he confirmed that thier email did get hacked and they were working on getting it resolved... Do not respond to it...!!!

Now back to Underloads build thread...

Why don't you just FO?

I asked a question.
Just answer it and lose your phuctard attitude.

If I walked half way down a GM assembly line and yanked what was going to be a Tahoe off the line when it had no drive line wheels or tires and no gauges, did I buy a 2013 Tahoe ??

Well kinda a silly question No?
I owned a 86 ski boat with a 2000 o.b. but the boat was still a 86.
Also Im not 100% sure how the new owner intends to build, but I highly doubt it'll have borrowed gauges & interior slapped in it with a clapped out smoky 365 mag

They look absolutly awesome in person... You can't get the feel or the cool factor out of some of the pictures shown... But they do look very coo in person...l especially with the steps underneath and the lights running down the sides...!!

They probably do weaken the hull by increasing possible stress points. Kind of a strange feature for boats that have a reputation forhandling the rough stuff. I like the non-recessed hull better too.

Def has a WOW factor....kinda reminds me of a lambo or corvette recessed body panels. It's just a bit too busy for me:lolhit:
I'd be happy either way.....

OCCJoe 12-05-2012 07:42 PM

Simple engineering ! The step actually makes it stronger and more ridged . If you don't like it , you don't like it ! But it is stronger ..

I'd say it depends upon the direction of the stress forces on the hull. If the forces are vertical in that area, a sharp angle may not be ideal.

I was gonna cut your sides and make the first 24R when we restored your boat , Now I know how you feel I'm glad I didn't !

Time will tell. Cracks happen. Glass flexes. I highly doubt it is stronger. And yes I know how boats are designed and built. Almost did them on the last big project but scrapped the idea because of the angle and trying to pull from the mold.

The glass in the step is one continuous run with the side . If you really want to do it , it will come straight out of the mold with no force , no twisting , no prying . Will not post but if you PM me I will tell you how its done ...

Donzi ZX 12-05-2012 09:10 PM

This is an excellent read about hull stress cracks and the causes...

POWERPLAY J 12-05-2012 09:14 PM

I got it. We chose not to because of the angle it needed to be pulled. Also didn't think they fit the lines of the boat. I guess I would have to see it from the inside out. What type of core used etc. I'm sure you understand what I meant in my last post. Some people dig it and that is cool. I don't.

The technique used to put the steps in a hull allows you to pull the hull straight up just like if there was no recess .
You and most people don't like the steps , most prefer the classic line ,and thats cool, but me I like the resto mod , cutting edge and different . Hell I'm still trying to figure out how to mount a flux capacitor on my boat !

POWERPLAY J 12-06-2012 06:01 AM

So why do they all need to be painted? A perfect pop doesn't require it. There are some pretty pricey boats out there that HAVE to be painted to cover flaws. Not saying it's a bad design or argue with ya. Just leery I guess. Just like the hull the sides are in constant motion while running. The glass will move the gel won't causing it to crack. No fault of Pantera, I think they build a rugged boat well.

Back to the topic before super forum moderator 88 asks for pictures to prove I own a boat.
