I have been installing my cables, wiring, and equipment. I made slightly more progress than the photos show.
so far nothing from the original boat has gone back in. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psv4c5gor7.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...pseh9zebpd.jpg making progress on hardware and lighting. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ps2qhjntrt.jpg Cabin primed. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ps9eicp0yq.jpg And a couple of overall shots. Graphics installation has begun. The guy laying the vinyl messed up the accent stripes and the stripe going forward, so we will redo. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psqrxyndyj.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...pszjpxnlnm.jpg It is starting to look like a boat again! |
Glad to see you're making good progress and the boat's looking real nice! A quick suggestion, not sure if you're planning on getting a different trailer but if not I'd recommend either trying to move the boat forward or extend the rear bunks so the back of the transom is supported. It's probably just an optical illusion in the last pic in post 160 but it looks like there's a hook in the hull. I don't see it in the other pics but it made me think of it, you figure when you install your big block that will be a lot of weight hanging off the back of the trailer so it will be good to have it supported. Keep up the good progress!

Thank you.
The boat typically sits forward on that trailer. Take a look at pic 1 in the first post. It is currently sitting farther back so we could get at the rub rail at the bow. I would definitely love a new trailer, though. |
I made some progress over the last week.
Got my aluminum rub rail installed. This bend at the bow was not easy since the aluminum is pretty thick and it came in 20 feet lengths. I am surprised it turned out as decently as it did. I need end caps for the transom. Taco does not make these any more. Anyone have originals? http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...pso3lsfmtb.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...pszmvvcj6i.jpg The stripe was originally done incorrectly up the bow. I got it fixed and the accent stripes added. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psbnnutlcl.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ps67qaunts.jpg I found a Danforth Constellation compass on ebay. I need to get the oil refilled, but these were original to the boat and a perfect fit. The PO had an ill-fitting Ritchie installed. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psxybq2ywu.jpg Finished up the deck hardware (almost finished, need to swap out the black lifting eye on the bow). http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...pspoph55nx.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psgdgikz4b.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psp1ueaisx.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psmx17ztzb.jpg Continued wiring and installed my trim pump. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ps8lqxbuit.jpg The console originally had teak trim at the base which the PO painted black. I replaced this with aluminum trim. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psewt5flej.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ps0h5eurna.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...pskxyx1vd8.jpg Epoxied all the openings. Console installed. The original gauge bezels barely cleared the new fairing. I was worried for a moment as i tried to get it into place. Navigation lights installed. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psn3whbq43.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...pst5hpkrss.jpg Helm and steering wheel installed. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...pszjgybdmo.jpg I cleaned up and installed the side panels and back seat that came with the boat. My plan is to redo this eventually, but it ended up cleaning up okay and is tolerable for a couple of seasons. The PO painted the original teak hatch black. I tried stripping it a while back. did not work so well, so repainted it black. This will have to do for now. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ps5ce9i9jo.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psxbgzhrvg.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psuhlqu0rv.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psumczwmpn.jpg And just a reminder of what the boat used to look like 4 years ago. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ps25d5cf04.jpg |
Anu............The Pantera look's Wonderful!!.......Glad it's all coming together!
|
Very Nice - You are doing one Awesome Job...
|
Very Nice work. That thing loos better than original.
|
Looking great Anu!
Super clean looking with the tasteful old school paint scheme. |
Gentlemen, thank you for the kind words!
|
Did anybody actually believe that it would get this far? I have to say that I had my doubts!
These are from last week: http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psijfmqyan.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...pstyzehfm8.jpg http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...psoghxbkfh.jpg And a poor quality video demonstrating that this thing just might work! http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...pse7koksts.mp4 |
Just a thought on the rubrail, could you possibly v notch the rail make the bend and weld the hole up and polish out. Beautiful boat by the way. Hoping my pantera will see that makeover someday.
|
Thanks for the thread, I'm getting ready to tackle my Excalibur was thinking of taking the deck off but rethinking the project, going your way.

Great Work!
Any News? |

Great job!!! Is this Pantera from the Cleveland area?
|
Thanks. This one is not from the Cleveland area. This was supposedly a NH boat all its life

We are back at it again. This could be the year! |
I have not seen this boat out in the open, uncovered, in a long time. This is the first time in years that I have been able to step back and take it in. Here are a few shots walking around it. Seats are not yet bolted in. I will have to take a few inches out of the stands next year.

Fantastic boat Anu!
Well done! Proof that patience and a well thought out plan is the way to go. Good for you man. |
Thank you, Rob!
It is not as perfect as yours, nor is it the monster that yours will be, but man am I happy with it. Love your build! |
After 7 1/2 years the Pantera is finally ready to get back in the water! Last winter I took the boat to Supreme Marine in Gilford NH to finish up the mechanical work, fix the wiring that I had done (you live you learn), do some paint touch ups, and get some details worked out. They cut down the bolster stands from the 42’ cigarette, we positioned the seats, and got them installed. The fit feels good. They were actually able to mitre the back ends of the aluminum rub rail despite the compound curve. It looks cleaner than the corner caps I was originally trying to locate. I decided to paint the windscreen area satin black to mimic the low, vintage, plexi screens. And I now have a new cockpit cover. Interior reupholsty will have to wait for another year. The current interior is good enough for now. I want to get in the water! This is no concourse restoration, but good enough for me. Hopefully it runs well! Shakedown run in the spring!!!! https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...6c3c99ed0.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...8c08e1755.jpeg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...62e7f9aed.jpeg |
Looks great, enjoy! |
Love the stripe, boat looks great. I’m not a fan of the fake windshield paint though. Keep it up |
