any doable 24-7 project boats out there? northeast?
i thought about mello's excalibur. wifey liked the color scheme till she saw the blisters all over the topsides in the paint. still considering it, but she thinks repower and repaint is too much for my old a$$. (i am NOT telling her how much work is really involved. she thinks it is pop in a motor and recover the seats.) but i really would rather pantera-supe-carrera. if anybody knows where any are...
What is your price range?
try damn near free...sick stinger is trying to unload a 24 Excalibur.. new transom and stringers decent shape not motor or drive
1-5k depending on how ruff and what it has in it. that excalibur has had transom and stringers done?
He was asking $500
or 2500 with trailer or 5000 with trailer and TRS set-up.
anyway, still shopping. i am considering punting and settling for a 23 velocity, but i really want one of these...
Never heard of the mfg, price a lil steep....but,
http://longisland.craigslist.org/boa/4242396431.html There was a sick scorpion 24 on long island ready to roll minus power. Had xr, hydraulic steering, nice paint. Can't find it now though. |
This too,
http://boston.craigslist.org/sob/boa/4209926783.html I'd tell dude to get more pix though. ... even though it says don't ask for pix ??? Hmm. I'd go look at this for $50 for gas $ and snap 100 pix if dude can't get his trac phone fired up to send u pix. Also FYI Hingham is right on the ocean and there's no docks around here in fresh water like the one in the pic. Maybe Winnipesaukee in nh? There's a 24 Monza on Craigslist ri.thats "turn key" But I'd prefer a kick in the dick. It looks like a real rat |

I've got a P&D project for sale if interested but you can't just throw a motor in it and go,it's gonna need more than that, like everything.
a couple of possibilities. thanx. although the area code for the hingham ma boat is nonexistant.
It's a typo.
Try 774 |
That "24" in Boston certainly looks like a 22' Avanti that was for sale a while back. There's a thread on here comparing it to a 22' Apache that had some more pictures if I remember correctly

Decent Carrera just listed in l.i. But that guy is retarded on his prices.
He bought my boys Apache and listed it a short time later with all bs like " fresh water only " "one owner " blahhhh blah blahhh. Listed it for 2x his purchase price. Wouldn't be a bad boat for half of what he's asking. Decent looking jaws 24 in Miami on cl. Sounds like the 540" is blown. $9500bo. Best Deal I've found on a 24 recently. Good luck |
that carrera is nice, but you are right. 8-9k tops.
Well, it's certainly no 24 - 7 hull but, it's a 24 and looks like it has some potential and decent hardware. Nice K planes, hyd steering. Hopefully he means Chevrolet 502......
The price is right. I'm not very well versed on boats like this so maybe check elsewhere on this site but it looks like she'd clean up ok http://longisland.craigslist.org/boa/4255277072.html You can see his # in the f.s. sign There's also a FREE 1988 baja 240 on l.i. craigs. They are good older hulls from what I've seen. If it's not a rot box you could end up ahead of the game cash wise for your project. |
that checky don't look too bad. they are actually 7'6 beams. halfway between 24-7's 6 foot 6 beam and standard 8 to 8 1/2 foot cruiser stuff..sent him an email. i can't read phone number. my lo-def screen. if u can make it out could u pm it to me?
Man people are giving these boats away now a days. I'm really starting to lean towards selling my pantera less motor. Just the hull and trailer. But I'd never get the 5,000 I have into the hull....brand new paint etc.
I sold an excal for 500 most rigging there
Sold a monza on trailer for 1500 , monza still available as owner doesn't feel like doing it anymore |
The Pantera's and the Superboats still bring good money . Most the other 24/7's you can get for dirt cheap. But the truth of it is no boats are selling rite now. Hell look in the swap shop and you'll see people are practically giving stuff away . Wait till spring it will get better
no boats are selling now. that's why i am trying to buy now... plus projects, come easter, too late to get ready for float test...although the excalibur-monzas of the world are gonna stay under 5k running and driving i think. but kris's pantera is a hell of a good starting, or should i say continuing, point....
That's a pretty good looking boat...with a lil elbow grease!
been watching it. 5k on craigs. now nobody is even bidding 3500. he must be sick. 4 days to drive to fl and back plus gas is prolly cheaper and easier than any other option...but i want kris's pantera...
The guy up in hull is a dbag. was all set to see it, guy texts me an hour later about 10 times telling me all this bs about how he got 15 calls since ive talked to him and how hes going to be pissed if i waste his time. I told him to sell it to one of the 15 who called him
Super 24 on c.l. l.i. But it's got a mule on the back.

Not Northeast, but Great Lakes....
And it's a Klem Gem (Jim Klym).... And, while I don't personally know this boat, if memory serves it's a Dana/Stern Power drive with a Velvet Drive trans, and was painted. If somebody really wanted a running 24/7, it might be worth a look. http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/boa/4265578104.html Personally, I'll continue to lurk and stalk until a Pantera shows up at a price I can't resist. |
that's worth considering too. looks like the good stern power drive. sternpowr these days. looks like excalibur top deck. gonna talk to him. this is a great way to shop for boats. i have all of OSO looking for me... thanks guys.
ok, done a lil homework. jim klym's aero. anybody know anything about these hulls? i'll probably hafta ask in the classic boats section.
Regarding Aero, you might want to summon the expertise of a member on here, h20boater.
I'd only get that klem IF he does indeed throw the tube in.
No tube, no deal. |
that stern power is a dinosaur. tough like a dinosaur but getting towards extinction. keeps going on about 454 as if it is the greatest thing since sliced bread. he probly has no idea if it is 330 or 660. still worth considering. I got lotsa tubes.
any boat you buy in this price range you are going to have to completely rebuild i hope you know that
