All your hard work payed off, that's for sure. :boat:

Thank you. very much appreciated! Gonna work on de-Christmasing the house this weekend but we have plans to take the dogs out on the boat Sunday for a bit. I'm already planning an attack on the trailer so stay tuned for that. The boat other than finishing the stereo and a lifeline i guess is done-ish.

Thanks, certainly has been a fun project. I appreciate everyone keeping up with the progress.

Congrats on completing an awesome project!

Glad to hear you made it out with no issues! Weather turned out to be perfect for the run. Didn't see you but I'm sure we passed you as everyone seems to hammer down on that last but up the manatee and it gets a little chaotic. Haha. We actually ran much of the run next to your boats prior owner in his 28 OPA boat.

We saw Bill pass us as we were in the river. He noticed us because we were yelling OPA! lol. I think I do remember seeing you pass us, nice rig.

Well ladies and gentleman, with the unexpected rain the past couple days I had a tough road ahead the last couple evenings. Working all day and fitting in parts runs when I could, then working till 10-11pm it was close..... But we made it. I had engine trouble 24 months ago on Jan 1st during the Joey Gratton Memorial fun run, unfortunately for me my time for projects is limited but we made it to this point and I was nervous but excited for today. I have no intention of running WFO for 20 miles but I did want to participate, here was the plan. Drop in at about the 2/3 point of the run, make it 5 or 6 miles to the mouth of the river anchor off with a buddy and watch them scream through. I want to put in about 11am in case I have any issues as they will leave Sarasota at noon and be to me (about 15 miles) around 12:30, well I'm running late because of a few things I had to tidy up on the boat this morning. I launch at 12 noon and we head out and it was rough when we get into Tampa Bay heading into the Manatee River, I make it to within a mile and decide to stop to open the hatch and give it a look see, well by the time I can get going we see rooster tails bearing down so we slid outside the marked channel to let about 15 blow by, VERY COOL. Fired up and ran up to my buddy, he's anchored outside the channel right near land and the boats are coming by 30'-100' off the bow. Awesome showing with around 70 participants, I ran back with no issues and loaded up head out to clean up. When I was leaving the shop I could hear everyone running through Sarasota bay so my daughter and I ran to the 10th st ramp and watched a few load up. The Popeye's Cougar was outrageous!

Nmbr1GMfan 01-05-2015 12:06 PM

Having an issue with water in the bilge. Never when sitting only when cruising, I'm assuming the strainer lid isn't sealed properly. Ordered the last piece of the puzzle that will be my fresh water flush fittings this morning.

Where is that video from? Is that maybe Jewfish key behind the bridge? If so we vacationed a few times at Anna Maria Island a few years ago and boated through there. I love that place and area.

Jewfish is directly East of the bridge and Beercan is directly west of the bridge. We are on Beercan but yes you have the area down pat. Great area for playing.

Nice another Pantera close by.

Well looks like the weather this weekend is going to be cooler Sat and 80 Sunday so I may have to force myself to stay off the water and get a few more things buttoned up. Maybe continue the stereo work.

dereknkathy 01-06-2015 08:01 PM

No at 80 degrees I WANT to go out, but I should force myself to stay in and finish some little things.

Don't think I can take the open exhaust for much longer so I'm going to drop the mufflers off to be re-polished.

I'm really not sure. I got them with the boat and never saw any markings on them. When I get them back I'll have a better look. they do work great though.

Nmbr1GMfan 01-11-2015 07:44 PM

Well not much happened this weekend, I needed to get it in the water after re-sealing the strainer to see if that's where the water is leaking in from, but that didn't happen. I am waiting on a new stainless fitting for my flush kit so I can get that in but it didn't come in Friday like I thought. I did however tidy a few things and finish my outlet for the second bilge pump. First things first I need to finish the stereo up, so maybe next weekend (if I can get parts ordered this week) I will do stereo stuff.
Now on to the planning stages for "project dash refit". Here is the plan, I have read of some issues concerning the electric motor controlling the shift lever on the transmission so maybe a cable selector would be better. I'm thinking of pulling the dash, glassing up the unused mounting holes and the hole that is the trim switch (lower left), installing the new Lenco LED tab switches where existing switches are (top left panel) and adding two more gauges (left of wheel). The trim switch will be on the new throttle lever, heres what I'm thinking of. with my angle bezels coated flat red as well as the mounting plate at the steering wheel. What do you guys think?

Well I made a list tonight... this list, is of the one thing I have been waiting for since I first looked at this boat to purchase. It all started in 1979-1980, My parents had a 1957 30 something foot Chris Craft Constellation (I think) and my dad was looking for a new boat, I was 11 or 12 years old. I went with my dad one day to look for a new boat at Excalibur, when there we looked at a couple boats, one was a red and white 24 and I remember being in awe at what seemed to be huge exhaust pipes exiting the transom and the lifeline spanning the deck... it was the coolest thing I had ever seen. My dad ended up buying a stupid Chris Craft Lancer, but I never forgot that Excalibur, and every time I look down the deck and see those filled holes from the removed lifeline on my boat, I remember that day at Excalibur. I'm ordering all my lifeline parts!

dereknkathy 01-13-2015 11:03 PM

craigslist baltimore there is a whole lifeline set off a 24 supe. 200 bucks. been for sale 2 years. give him 100 you will probably get it.

i don't think the strainer would leak when running. the pump is pulling through the strainer. so it would be sucking air in through any leak while running. if it doesn't leak when floating with engine off and leaks when running i think it has to be after the raw water pump.

Yea, it looks as if the water is coming in from a few places. Various fittings and thru hulls are weeping water. Fixing them now.

I'm not a paying member, I never found it all that difficult to use Photobucket. Either way we want to see your pictures.

Nmbr1GMfan 01-24-2015 03:03 PM

Little more done today. New head unit and splash guard in. Amplifier power cables terminated and installed on + and - terminal blocks. Hopefully tomorrow I can finish whats left of the woodwork to secure amp racks and wire the speakers/head unit.

Made a huge damn mess today, I ran short on RCA cables but I did hear it play music so that was a plus. Finished woodwork, I originally wanted to do the opening different but it just makes it harder to get inside so I just did it simple. Another small piece of the puzzle nearly complete.
