1978 24 with what looks to be the factory tank. The outlet looks to be a female NPT into the tank, currently it has a sketchy looking hardware store brass tee screwed into the tank with a AN fitting in the tee. I want to eliminate the tee and use just a straight AN to NPT 90 degree outlet to an AN hose end. My question is, how is the pickup in the tank? Is it welded to the underside of the top or is the brass tee somehow holding it in? Thanks.

The tank is a Florida marine tank. I have the same one with the same crappy 90 degree brass fitting.
I'm going to do the same thing as you suggested with the swept radius A/N 90. The female bung welded into the tank has the pickup tube either pressed or welded onto the female bung.
