i may be getting a pantera. early one. i have found a supe, an excal, and the pantera. the supe has new transom, not cut yet. excal is running and driving. but 396. pantera needs engine. i have 2. maybe i should get all 3!!! then finally answer the question, which is faster. take the same engine and drive and run it in all 3 boats...or maybe not.

I posted similar thread last year. Then my aunt's estate took a year longer to clear probate than we all counted on. Anyway, a little mad money is finally about to fall in my lap and i figured somebody on here probably has a line on some decent ones. Thanks.

Ok i was kind of cheating. I found this 79 24 sport about 100 miles from me. Found it before i posted this thread. But i wanted to see if there were any other options out there. Hull looks totally solid. No dull sounds when tapping on the transom. 330 trs with gil exhausts. Decent orig interior. Trailer that guy i bought it from sez only got wet 1 time. Orig gel looks good. Almost no dock rash. It is a merc trans. Oh well. Cant have everything. Boy are sport cuddys small. But i didnt get it to sleep on it. Nice long risers. May hafta rethink cam choices in the gen 6 i picked up ahead of time for it. Now i hafta tell the spousal unit i bought another boat...
So post some pictures!
So when are you picking it up???
handed him a check today. it has gotta clear and then i need to look at weather. he doesn't have a problem with it sitting there till the weather breaks worst case.
ok see if this works...http://s1061.photobucket.com/user/vallejo44/library/ the pic of hull comes up ok. the rest come up smaller than thumbnails. i am gonna hafta figure out this photobucket stuff...oh. the rest of the pics ARE thumbnails.
Looks pretty good.

Grab the image code to post the pics. Your other photos are way to small. |
I like it.
Please try to keep it original looking... not many left. |
Wow! That looks great. Definitely keep the original look!
the biggest appearance change this year is to fill in the extra exhaust holes. i am all over the transom checking for rot. tapping everywhere. and i don't even notice too many exhaust holes till i look at the pics after i get home! i am not crazy about the high lifeline. i like the lower superboat style. but if it keeps the Pantera Historical Society happy i can live with it...
The lifeline is the best part of that boat.
I'd mix old w new on it. Keep the lifeline and update the windscreen to a solid one painted to match. Also my buddy bought a bottom painted boat and didn't want to deal with removing it so he bottom painted it with Pettit vivid white. It's not perfect looking but made a huge difference in the boats appearance. |

The glass is so thick on these boats. My transom and stringers were solid by every test short of drilling into them. The floor was the only thing I thought I needed to replace. I ended up replacing every piece of wood in the hull. hopefully that is not the case with that boat. |

I will gladly buy the lifeline if you want to get rid of it.

Love those hatches.
Congrats on the new ride!!! I also like how the life lines look on these boats and think you should keep it.

Don't think I've ever seen a intake mounted alternator before.....

the airflow thru the carb spins the cooling fan on the alternator. so there is no belt robbing power...
I love that ad that said ran when parked. Haha.
maybe it did. lots of boats ran when parked and engines are worth less than one that blew like they were in a bruce willis movie...just started scrubbing 10 years worth of gluck off the front deck. you know you are motivated when cleaning a boat with snow...anyway, is there something that will turn this gelcoat white again? something besides 2-part polyurethane? these boats are originally gel, not paint, correct?
You are correct. They were gelcoat. Good project! Have fun with it.
Fountain of youth products work the best on gel. Made my boat look new again.
