3 Stupid questions for the hard core speed merchants but.......
If a 496 HO was the biggest available power plant, what sort of cruise and top speeds could one expect?
Is it sacrilegious to take a boat with this pedigree and underpower it? What if the owner just wanted an excellent hull with a bit of old school style that cruised comfortably in the slop and was low maintenance?

Don't really want to own two boats at the same time but have a half a chance of selling my current boat at the moment. Looking for the biggest deep v that will run ok with a single 496 HO. Can't buy or service blue motors here and happy to look at a simple project. At least the transom and stringers should be fine in this one!
Water is pretty rough here most days so I need waterline length, deep V and weight. Pantera offers that but I'm concerned after a modest fit out, she may be pretty heavy for the power......
Any input is appreciated.

If he doesn't check in here, I'll PM him.
Craney's thoughts above are reasonably encouraging, If Wild Thing concurs, I might have a bunch more questions for you guys, you all know more about Pantera than I do....
The boat is now listed on Yachtworld and Ing was right about Concept Marine.
Thank you,

Set back.....
Priced a complete package today from the Merc dealer. 496ho with bravo 1X. 1,384,000 Thai baht excluding prop. That's about 39,500 USD or for an Aussie like me, 55,300 AUD. I also inquired vaguely about an ITS transom steering and they said they would need to contact Singapore to see how much for Merc Racing parts and if it was even possible in Thailand.
What's the same package worth in America? Any rough idea?
Powering in the U.S. Is probably a lot cheaper but then shipping costs and vat will blow out considerably.
This is looking very unlikely at the moment but thanks for the recent input.

This boat is going from Concept to a broker early this week. Concept was helping out the owner. Make an offer now if interested or broker commission will be involved.
Spoke to Concept Friday
