Is the 28' an original design?

Is the 28' an original design, a splash from another hull, or was this from a mold purchased by Pantera? Just very curious.
Thanks!

I believe it was designed by Harry Schoel for Pantera.

JGB,
Thanks for your input. I'm restoring an old-1967 28' Magnum Race Boat which was designed by Harry Schoel. The strakes appear to be identicle to the 28' Pantera that I race. Although the deck is different, the hulls appear to be the same. I was hoping Joe would respond to this.

Bruce,
I'm not going to New Orleans, but I wish you good luck down there!
I should have the Magnum done for next year and look foward to battling you and Todd in P5!
I'm probably throttling for Todd in Key West, but it isnt confirmed yet.
Safe Racing!!!:D

Robert,
thanks, good luck to you guys. We'll talk soon.

PS: P5 looks like its going to be a competitive class next year
Should be almost as exciting as F-1, if not more.

take care:D

JO - PANTERABOATS 10-17-2002 12:16 PM

Hey Guys,

Our 28 bottom was designed by Mr. Harry Shoell and he also designed the Magnum. The biggest diffrence is the freeboard between both boats.

They are still great running boats!!

Construction methods, and set up are the most important.

Regards, JO

Thanks Joe!

Hope to see you in Kew West at the Worlds.

Thanks Jo, Am I to assume the pantera has the higher freeboard? That would be my guess.

Thanks,

james

P5/P4 Battle

Rob , Bruce ,
I am rigging a 28 single for next year . I picked up an older (95)
hull and am in the process of tearing it down .
Power will be way of 540 cubes - " Jersey Girl "
Navigator will be Mike " Hollywood" Agolia .
Depending on its top speed , I will choose a class for next year .
Rob , I hope you're Magnum is nearing completion . I have
used Bravo 1 transom plate for sale if you are interested .

Bruce , See you down at Smittys' .

Jmemoli,

Jerry, saw the Pantera in your driveway and was wondering what you were doing with it.
I just purchased a new Bravo 1 drive with transom assembly this week-picking it up Thursday. I still have some glass work to do and hope to 'rig' it over the winter.
P5 is looking competitive for next year, with 3 - 28 Panteras, yours, "Carrabbas", and "Simply Awesome". Looking foward to racing everyone next year! The more, the better! Wouldn't it be nice to have at least a 10 boat field?!! :D :D :D
I'm looking for motor mounts and rigging hardware if you come across anything.
Take Care,

BOB G.

BRUCE SEROFF 10-22-2002 10:50 AM

JO - PANTERABOATS 10-22-2002 05:11 PM

Hey Bruce,

There maybe another 28 Pantera going to New Orleans SBI Championships to race in P5 or F1 depending on power.Look for them down there.

Did you receive shirts and decals I seny you last week?

:D

Regards,

JO

Jmemoli 10-22-2002 06:31 PM

Pantera Decals

Joe ,
I was wondering if I could get from you the Pantera decal across the wind fairing , the Pantera decals on either side of the fairing, and the "28" decal on either side of the fairing ? I will also need the white background and P5-xx numbers for the hull sides and
deck .
I also need the tabs/drives name plate ( on the dash ) in white for a single ,
and for a dual engine 28 , I need the panel for drives and tabs ( with the word "drives " on the left , and the word "tabs " on the right .

Let me know if you can help me with this .

Thanks

PS: The boat ran 62 on GPS .

BRUCE SEROFF 10-22-2002 08:10 PM

hey Jo,

give me a call Wednesday 732 906 8680

thanks

JO - PANTERABOATS 10-24-2002 12:21 PM

Hey Jerry,

Let me know what color you will want the Pantera decals done for the boat.I will have the done up for you.

The indicator panel I most likely have here in Stock,if not I can have with in a few days from order.

I will give you a call later today or tommorow.

Are you leaving the ribbon stripe or sanding it off?

Bruce,

I will call you later.

JO

Jmemoli 10-28-2002 06:55 AM

Joe ,
The ribbon stripe is coming off . It just doesn't do the boat justice!!
As far as the "Pantera " decal on the fairing , I think I will
go with purple .
Again , the drives /tabs panel for twins needs the "drives " inscription on the left side , and tabs on the right .

For the single application , I need 2 white panels with ;
"tab , drive , tab " . The throttles are going on the port side
in a custom made bolster arrangement . Port and starboard will
have throttles and drives/tab control .

Thanks
Jerry

Jerry.

Is this your boat?

Jmemoli 10-30-2002 08:17 AM

Yes , it is .

nd4hire 10-30-2002 09:35 AM

I have the same graphics on my boat. I agree, they don't do the boat justice. They're a little dated. I'm currently in the middle of repowering now. I hope to send the boat down to the factory for a new interior and graphics package after the first of the year, depending on funds.

Good luck with your refit. Post some PICs when complete.

Nick
