Sad day? They were essentially thieves at the end of it. Probably didn't assemble a boat in the last 5-7 years and played games with creditors/lawsuits for years. Those molds are worthless as they are old, they certainly were not maintained and they are for a product that nobody is buying! Imagine you could buy a machine that builds the top of the line VCRs, what would you pay for that? Smart people would pay nothing because nobody is going to buy even a top of the line VCR anymore!
Race history- yep boats were great I/O performance boats- dead market Company reputation- not worth much and you probably can't use the Pantera name even if you buy the molds. The longshot- someone buys the molds and makes an updated OB version of the boats (designed to handle the 4 strokes of today). |

I was friends with an engineer in the 90's that bought a DVD player (big purchase for him) against his wife's wishes. He appreciated the quality but she instantly realized if you bought the DVD player then you need all new movies to replace your VCR tapes that are now obsolete! At the time they were probably making 200K a year and had a 150K mortgage, wife was just a miserable cheapskate! He would waste HOURS looking at boats, driving all over to look at Mainship cruisers with single straight shaft diesels. I always joked if his wife wouldn't approve a DVD player then a boat is never going to happen! Wife was cute, very smart but total buzzkill on anything that cost money or was remotely fun! |
Can I get Beverly Hills cop on blu-ray? That’d be like a updated Pantera 28! I look back on the VHS Beverly Hills cop, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, etc days fondly. Always liked the 28 and the 36. If the 28 got an updated cockpit I think it’d be one of the coolest single Vs, but too bad.

VHS..,. But did ya have the JVC S VHS recording head unit?!?
What happened again with the 41/42 Thad Allen apache/Pantera molds again? Someone had bought them if I recall. Anyways the images in the auction certainly don't relay a 600,000 worth, but what do I know.... Other than its hot down there outside in the sun |

600,000 K is a pipe dream I have been looking at the photo's a lot and from the photo's I can't tell which is the 24 or the 28 but the 36 mlds look from the photo's to be ok but the other two are rough and would need reworked.the Black hull mold doesn't look to bad. personally I would love to pick up a set of 24 x7 hull molds. even the 28 ft ones too. But 600,000k is pipe dream other molds like this sell for a lot less. Oh well

You have to ask for a high price this way when someone bid's lower and get's it they feel like they got a great deal " nothing new here "
On a side note one of the things that made the 28 run so good in the rough is that it was built with a LOT of wood to make it heavy and that is what crushes waves , these days boats are all composite material to make them lighter and faster in flat water but not so much in the rough . Just my thoughts mike |
My first experience with a VCR was a giant cassette deck looking top loader a friend of my step dads brought over to our house for a big party they were having for another of their friend's soon to be marriage in the very early 80's. He ended up leaving it at our house for like 2 or 3 weeks. Did I mention that another friend also brought over a box of porn??? It took me about 13 seconds to figure out how it all worked but I had a head start cause it was just a giant version of my Teac tape deck back then. Was up at the crack of dawn on summer vacation From the moment they left the house in the morning to the minute they got home I wore those tapes out. I will never forget Vista Valley PTA that's for sure. Lol
