Sad for Pantera but it's no surprise. Hopefully the molds will be snapped up and the boats will be resurrected.

I doubt they will even bring 90 grand for all 3 together. If by luck they do or more than that, I will be the first to say Very sorry and I was totally wrong COMPLETELY WRONG.

Is this an Absolute action and without marks climbing the bid numbers that many auctions have in place to get higher valued bids ?

What a sad way for what were historic and well built boats to end, sitting and rotting. But I guess that’s how it goes when you run a shady business, sooner or later it’ll catch up.

JRider 12-02-2017 05:39 AM

$600K lol, $20k if they were in good condition.

Jupiter Sunsation 12-02-2017 06:26 AM

Sad day? They were essentially thieves at the end of it. Probably didn't assemble a boat in the last 5-7 years and played games with creditors/lawsuits for years. Those molds are worthless as they are old, they certainly were not maintained and they are for a product that nobody is buying! Imagine you could buy a machine that builds the top of the line VCRs, what would you pay for that? Smart people would pay nothing because nobody is going to buy even a top of the line VCR anymore!

Race history- yep boats were great
I/O performance boats- dead market
Company reputation- not worth much and you probably can't use the Pantera name even if you buy the molds.

The longshot- someone buys the molds and makes an updated OB version of the boats (designed to handle the 4 strokes of today).

My reason for saying 20K is the 36 molds, they look to be in decent shape, the 36 is a beast.

We got one for Christmas 1985, went to the local "video store" and rented Beverly Hills Cop......you know mom it has that guy from Saturday Night Live, Eddie Murphy in it.......lets just say his language was not mom approved on Christmas morning!

I was friends with an engineer in the 90's that bought a DVD player (big purchase for him) against his wife's wishes. He appreciated the quality but she instantly realized if you bought the DVD player then you need all new movies to replace your VCR tapes that are now obsolete! At the time they were probably making 200K a year and had a 150K mortgage, wife was just a miserable cheapskate! He would waste HOURS looking at boats, driving all over to look at Mainship cruisers with single straight shaft diesels. I always joked if his wife wouldn't approve a DVD player then a boat is never going to happen!

Wife was cute, very smart but total buzzkill on anything that cost money or was remotely fun!

Can I get Beverly Hills cop on blu-ray? That’d be like a updated Pantera 28! I look back on the VHS Beverly Hills cop, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, etc days fondly. Always liked the 28 and the 36. If the 28 got an updated cockpit I think it’d be one of the coolest single Vs, but too bad.

VHS..,. But did ya have the JVC S VHS recording head unit?!?

What happened again with the 41/42 Thad Allen apache/Pantera molds again? Someone had bought them if I recall. Anyways the images in the auction certainly don't relay a 600,000 worth, but what do I know.... Other than its hot down there outside in the sun

My old VCR just croaked so I just bought a super VHS HiFi stereo VCR at an electronics recycler for $75 (NOT a Pawn Shop) to play all my old Bevis and Butthead reruns and all my old MTV music videos that still sound great...since this thread is supposed to be about Pantera nothing beats Pantera's "Mouth for War" played at very high volume...

jhainer 12-02-2017 11:20 AM

600,000 K is a pipe dream I have been looking at the photo's a lot and from the photo's I can't tell which is the 24 or the 28 but the 36 mlds look from the photo's to be ok but the other two are rough and would need reworked.the Black hull mold doesn't look to bad. personally I would love to pick up a set of 24 x7 hull molds. even the 28 ft ones too. But 600,000k is pipe dream other molds like this sell for a lot less. Oh well

mikebrls 12-02-2017 12:34 PM

You have to ask for a high price this way when someone bid's lower and get's it they feel like they got a great deal " nothing new here "

On a side note one of the things that made the 28 run so good in the rough is that it was built with a LOT of wood to make it heavy and that is what crushes waves , these days boats are all composite material to make them lighter and faster in flat water but not so much in the rough .

Just my thoughts

My first experience with a VCR was a giant cassette deck looking top loader a friend of my step dads brought over to our house for a big party they were having for another of their friend's soon to be marriage in the very early 80's. He ended up leaving it at our house for like 2 or 3 weeks. Did I mention that another friend also brought over a box of porn??? It took me about 13 seconds to figure out how it all worked but I had a head start cause it was just a giant version of my Teac tape deck back then. Was up at the crack of dawn on summer vacation From the moment they left the house in the morning to the minute they got home I wore those tapes out. I will never forget Vista Valley PTA that's for sure. Lol

Since this is now the VHS thread............

One Christmas, Dad had all his old home movies from his 'super 8' projector recorded onto VHS and gave all us kids a copy. A lot of the footage was at the beach, water skiing and boating. Great old silent b&w memories from the 60's.

2010, I don't own a VHS player anymore but now own a Sea Ray with 2 of those tv/video combos onboard. Dad passes away so I decide to re-live the memories, staying onboard with a nice bottle. Damn U.S. video player won't play the Aussie type VHS tapes.

2017, I've still got the old tapes and still can't find anyone here that can play them and record to DVD or a hard drive. Always keep my eyes open, I'm sure I'll find someone one day who can help......

there are still many services that will do just that, you didnt say which video format but I'm sure it can be done, here is just one example https://mediatransfers.perfectimagev...yAAEgICCPD_BwE

mikebrls 12-02-2017 08:05 PM

What's with all this VCR crap , I would say 9 out of 10 gofast Boats built today came from the same molds the pantera did at one time or another , Even thow Pantera needed to go out like they did , the boats are the same design that most all other's are using with upgraded composites and steps , about ten years ago most every CC and go fast had steps put in to keep up with fountains ect, :)
I owned a 2005 28 pantera even thow i didn't like the buying experience the boat ran great in 4 to 5 footers compared to a 32 foot boat I test drove a few years later and didn't buy it " after flying over a 1000 miles , it was so light "

Just sent them an email. Many mail order places don't deal with Thailand but I'll find out......
Thank you,

P.S. Sorry about the :hijack: I'm finished. Would like to hear more about Pantera.

My first vcr was a 1984 jc penny top loader wired remote that I paid $400.00 for and for some reason I still have it.

Maybe you could use OZ for a return address, if not, I am sure I could forward them, my shipping dept does a lot of international orders. Dvd's dont weigh much.

As far as Pantera goes, there were several threads about shady business practices that disappeared. Check this one out https://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/...judgement.html

I like the 36 Pantera. Would be cool to see someone resurrect these molds. To repeat a question further up in the thread, what happened to the 41' mold? Did that model ever get perfected?

Looks like final bid was 8000 + 20% buyers premium. Bid was onsite... Who got the LOT?

Hey Everybody,
More misinformation and crazy rumors huh??
Well guess what?
I bought the Molds, even though there were several known title questions.
YUP, I PUT MY MONEY, $8,000. WERE MY MOUTH IS!! MORE THAN MOST OF THE CRITICS...
I PAID WHATEVER REQUESTED, GOT CONFIRMATION...and ready to pay balance immediately and finish this.
...and it was BERKS LAWYER that improperly stopped thiS and forced the auctioneer to credit me back-DESPITE THE SALE HAD NO CONDITIONS ATTACHED TO IT IN THE OFFERING. SOOOO REST ASSURED, NOW THESE MOLDS MAY REALLY BE TIED UP! AN AUCTION IS AN AUCTION!! SEEING THE LAWYER MONDAY, as soon as I pick up the nostalgia office pictures I bought at the auction.
THE REFUSAL TO SELL WAS NOT ANY ACTIONS OF PANTERA, PEPE ETC... MR BERK COULD HAVE FINALLY GOT SOME MONEY!! ... JUST LIKE HE COULD HAVE RECEIVED $40,000. ALMOST TWO YEARS AGO. IT'S HIS LAWYERS THAT DONT WANT MONEY...WHY?? ...POOR MR. BERK.

AND I DID IT TO KEEP THE LEGACY ALIVE... THERE WASN'T ONE BAD PANTERA, Y'ALL KNOW IT!!
AND TO DO THAT, ALL ARRANGEMENTS WOULD HAVE BEEN MADE FOR PEPE TO DO WHAT HE DOES BEST, BUILD THEM!

Reggie is back working on building fountains, Pepe back working on Panteras with some help?????

Sounds good to me cause in the perfect world someday I will have a 36.

BLACKJACK-C27 12-09-2017 05:02 PM

Well, now the lawyers just have to wake up to reality...its over,
They gambled, they could have had more years ago...it seems like that Berk guy, and I don't know him, just wanted to extinguish Pantera instead of getting some money.
Not happening.....

Great day in the factory with Jo and also met Pepe and Linda in the office - all the way from the UK. Jo showed me the 24 moulds that made my boat - great stuff.

Really good that Pantera will rise again!

bck 12-10-2017 01:32 PM

Sounds like at best Berk would have only recovered 8k of his judgement (minus any seller fees), while you were basically just a shill bidder for Pepe to buy Pantera back for 8k and continue business as usual. Berks lawyer figured this out and said not happening.

BLACKJACK-C27 12-10-2017 05:13 PM

Hello BCK,
Listen BCK, I'm not on these threads much because of all this BS. Where in the world do you come up with this crap...that's actually pretty darn close to defamation!
In all seriousness, why on earth didn't any one of you "trash talkers" buy it??? Or Bid??? I won it for $8,000. because that was IT That was the Price!
That was their Value!! Mr. Sugarman's Auction firm did a great job of advertising and promoting the Auction to the Sector of Businesses and Individuals who could be interested in the items. In fact, friends of mine, other manufactures, actually received Mailings on the event. You all been telling the world. Berk been talking to everyone. The Auction was on the Internet and the Auctioneer took his time between each bid to make sure the Internet people were done, before "calling" next amount. I was there, I know! Berk's lawyer was there too, he saw it was "fair and square". The look on his face after the Auction, clearly shown disgust and surprise and that unique look that "reality has set in". Sort of like when you are at Turning Stone and you just won a big roll, and you want to let it ride and your wife or gf wants you to take your chips and leave; but you play again and you lose it all - and - have that same look at each other and just go, saying nothing in the truck all the way home!
Berk didn't get more money earlier because him and his lawyer believed all of YOU - but where were y'all at high noon December 7th?? Bidding??? Noooooo. I was there at lawyers office about a year ago with Pepe for two reasons, one, he had no gas or parking money to go to Miami Beach and two, I KNEW that the offer that was made to Berk for $40,000. that day, from an investor who owned a boat yard to work, was 100% legitimate! Obviously, they turned it down and lawyer was told that was "all the money, no games", but he gambled that all of YOU were gonna buy 100's of boats from Berk or one of YOU was going to pay him $100,000. immediately. Didn't happen, sorry...

I resent being called a "shill" of Pepe's. A friend yes, and the molds would NOT be his!! It's a great boat, he IS a great boat builder. NO one, even on this trash talk forum can say anything bad about his quality, unlike most other manufactures. If YOU did your homework, you would even see I don't even own a Pantera. I was several time champ in a "Manta" 28', which I still own and have and use a one of maybe four 32' Cobra outboard open fisherman; hull like Saris Raceboat for those newbies, lol. My son has a Rabco 28', Lake X rigged originally for Randy and Parker.
The 28' mold was mine anyway. I bid and accepted the $8,000. for the 3, just to end it now; even though the 28' was mine from way way before Berk and fully documented. The lawyer will never take it away, he lied and misrepresented the facts to the Court and never sued me with the necessary due process, because he would not only lose, but be personally responsible for my fees and damages. This is FAR from over. By not selling at the advertised Auction they are in more trouble...watch!!
Do you think your trash talk is going to help Berk??
c'mon. You get entertainment and that poor man looses $$ because you convince lawyer of inflated value that was not there.
now apologize to me and go make some money so you can play in Lake Ontario next summer, it's fun.
Happy Holiday.
