the upgraded drives are for the total weight of the boat, not the engines, right?

Rtaylor,

The reason I would recommend to go with Bravo's is that it is a stronger drive and will allow you to add more horsepower without having to worry about drive issues in the future.

Pantera24,

I'm sorry, I probably didnt ask the question too clearly. I thought that the drive you should choose is not only a function of the horsepower used but also the total weight of what is being pushed. So regardless of the horsepower, shouldnt you beef up the bravo?

XR's would be overkill behind a small block. Even if you where running a bigger boat you wouldn't need bigger drives becasue there simply isn't enough HP there to break them no matter what the weight. If your pushing the HP limit of your drive then weight can factor in.
