I was looking serious at Pantera24's old boat last year but State Farm would not touch it.It was a 24 with a 351.Who insures the older Panteras with a single? What rates would be reasonable for a 15k value?

Looks to me like you just have to have your agent hunt around- I got 800ish quotes eventually- inland waters:D

Let's get crackin' on the 28. Buck and I want to go for a ride! I went over to his place for some truck steps last weekend and Panteras were on the brain.

The other boat is still where I left it just over a year ago. The Magnum is in pieces in the shop. Good thing it is too hot to work on her. The good news is that my pirogue still floats.

Keep us posted - Buck and I are dying to see one up close. Maybe if one of us wins the lottery, we can start the Beaver Lake Pantera Club?

Hey Cat..

Try Progressive Insurance. They have coverage anywhere in the U.S. for the same price or less. My premium is $1,632/yr. for 28' single 525EFI at full cost of boat.

Cattitude,

I just got a qoute from my agent @ State Farm & it was $1k /yr based on $100k (which was there limit, I asked for $125k for my 28' 525 single b/c you have to include personal belongings too) no trailer, $5k medical & $500k liability & a $500 deductible. I was expecting it to be more to be honest w/ you. Wet or dry docked didn't seem to make any difference just whether the boat would be used inland or on the ocean. I can still trailer it to the shore w/ the same insurance coverage as long as my primary use is on the lake I originally stated. Obviously its different from state to state. Jo sounds like FL has a tight knit organized insurance racket going on there. I'll lend my NC address to anyone interested for $200 / yr! Ok just kidding.

Sounds like you got some good input here.

Less than I thought...

I was rootin' through some paperwork the other night...
My insurance isn't $2800 as previously stated. It's about $1,800... Through Progressive.
'99 28, with Trailer, twin 502MPIs....
I think they may have a descrepancy on my policy (but let's keep this quiet) I told them the boat had twin 400HP. The policy lists the HP as 400, not 800.
It's an agreed value policy @ $70k. I could have gone more, could have gone less.
