Re: an almost complete engine for the new 24
Fountain 33 Your comp cam tell me you didnt put a cast cam in that motor comp loves to sell them?? And Stormrider salt water myth #1 boats run faster the reason many do is altitude not water so if you come from similar altitude you would see no difference, my boat ran the same in fresh and salt no diffrence in rpm or gps.

Re: an almost complete engine for the new 24
DD, I have the long bravo risers. The should come about 4-6" from the tips.
Bstubb, isn't salt water denser, therefore less slip in the prop. And numerous people here have noticed gains between salt and fresh. Just to check... i'll post in the general forum. Altitude should effect HP. |
Re: an almost complete engine for the new 24
yes therefore createing more density for drive to push through but boat floats higher so its a wash

Re: an almost complete engine for the new 24
It seems all these guys in fresh water tell their speeds, then have to state that they are in fresh water. So i guess its just that they'd hope it'd be faster in salt. Oh well.
Some guys stated to have gained speeds in my gen. forum thread. I'm in salt water at sea level, just the way i like it. Except Havasu does seem to be a fun place. Sorry for Hijacking the thread F333. Where will you be running the boat. I'm trying to convince my father to take my 24 with him to FL next winter. |

Re: an almost complete engine for the new 24
i will be boating in Bradenton Florida, and Lake Erie Michigan. the cam core is cast iron but there will no problem. the motor made good power and will be very reliable, the dyno pulls were made on 89 octane also!

I will have to run 93. My marina only carries 87, but 93 is only a 10min bubble ride away, and has a great bar. :D |

Re: an almost complete engine for the new 24
Thats positive thinking hopeing that a cast cam will work I have never made one work but I hope the best for you. Sustained rpm will kill that cam . Mine lasted 3 hrs if you baby it you may get a season out of it ,problem is that the cam is the hardest material in your motor it will eat your bearings and other things. Comp cams wont admit that it is a problem but engine builders will tell you dont do it.
