Re: Mr Technology
When you had the boat, how fast was it (B-Class)?

I always thought it was faster. Thanks for the response.

That thing had to be faster than that.
My A-96/A-1/A-19/B-19 Runaway, on the final run, saw 97 on gps with full tanks and 101 on gps with empty tanks. As a reference point of how much speed I added, through all of the upgraded and class changes, she won worlds in KW 92 and at the time, ran 67 on gps. Back then she had T/355cid, 400hp, 93 octane. When she was done, T/374cid, 660-680hp, 14:1 comp, 112 octane.
We did not race at all in 95, that was the year long conversion from A to B.

In 1995 we only had a water speed pick up and we also had an air speed indicator but it was irradic at best.
You'd have to ask will Smith about the gear ratios. I just remember we had 2 sets of props. I think they were like 30 inches and 28 inches and we could spin the engines to about 6400 rpms. No doubt the boat ran really strong. I believe it was the third vee bottom with a lid. Inxs, Dragon Lady, then Mr Technology. We used that name because of the business that we were in at the time and all the stuff Will Smith built into this boat. Like pumps to move fuel between the front and rear gas tanks. The ability to draw from either tank. The ability to fill the ballast tank off the hot engine water and then dump it in seconds via a 3 inch fire hose. Of course the wild canopy added to the look and the real clincher was the 2 speed B&M transmissions that never even got to the starting line in good working order. Too bad. After two races and two bad experiences, we put in hubers and never worried about the transmissions again.
See's still alive and well in Trinidad.
