Thank you, not the 100 mph that you had predicted, but with the amount of horsepower the engines are making I think it is running great.
Will you be racing at Pt. Pleasant, NJ? What speed did u see sofar ?? Has to be over 90 ?! |

Has to be over 90 ?![/QUOTE] I had filled the 140 gallon to where it overflowed, me, Will Smith, and my Uncle (Barry Hills) went out on Friday in Sarasota Bay; probably burned off twenty gallons or so at most before it ran 91 mph. It was running 91/90 mph @ 5000 rpm, with stock 34" Bravos. I am having the props blue-printed (matched), with just a twinge of performance work; the props cavitate when planing so that is the first area of propeller re-work. I would hope/expect a 2 mph gain when the boat is light on fuel, when the air is cooler than 90F with when there is a following sea not quatering seas, and two people (not three people), in the boat - and with the prop work (I am hoping for 3/4 mph) in combination with all the above 93+ mph would be fantastic, but I would take 2 mph in a heartbeat. This speed is from a Livorsi pressure speedometer (waterpickup), and confirmed with Will Smith's hand-held GPS. Motors: 540 cu.in. Darts with the MerCruiser 502/415 top-end EFI. 9.5 pistons, Iron ProTopline cylinder heads (I think they are 290's, not 320's). The Dyno at Innovation using my Gil Headers, not tube headers: Dyno Numbers from Innovation: Horsepower: Port Motor: 517.7 hp @ 5000 rpm Starboard Motor: 519.4 hp @ 5000 rpm These motors peak at 5000 rpm on horsepower Peak torque: Port Motor: 646.2 lb./ft. @ 3700 rpm Starboard: 641.0 lb./ft. @ 3700 rpm To keep this in perspective I cruise at 3100 rpm, and there is 616 lb./ft. of torque there. These motors will idle at 650 rpm, but we bumped the idle to 750 rpm to be conservative. That sums up a long answer to a simple question, but that is what lawyers do. Stephen PS - Dyno - AirIntake temperature: 81F WaterIntake temperature: 77F Just like summer conditions, not doctored in a 65F airconditioned room. |
Nice # but even if they peak @5000 u can turn them higher.
I would say they are safe @5400,,up there u don't need HP to spin the prop ,just RPM and u would gain speed easy. U should call Innovation and ask if 5400 is safe on these motors. A stock 502 is 5400 as well as a 454 is 5200 RPM and i had my 454's @5400 all the time and never had any problems. :party-smiley-004: Just a thought. @5400 should be @ 102 MPH with 34 pitch. RPM X PITCH X 0.01 / 12 / 1.50 ratio = MPH Other then that ,,,,WOW !! NICE.:evilb: |

These are solid motors, with all the best, they just were too dam $$,$$$ when it was all said and done. But you get what you pay for, and Innovation is a rock solid outfit with smart, stand-up men. I would do business with them anyday of the week. NICE.:evilb: PS Rev limiters are set at 5400 rpm, not 5100... |
