Phantom Race Boat w/Turbos
How well did this Phantom with what appears to be Small block TT's perform ?
Anyone know the history on it ? http://inlinethumb06.webshots.com/28...500x500Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb27.webshots.com/48...500x500Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb07.webshots.com/47...500x500Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb20.webshots.com/50...500x500Q85.jpg |
those motors look badass in the boat, who built them,
|
I saw this at auction and I don't know who has it now or if they actually got it to the water... and then took the drives off? or never got that far... The boat Won the 2008 SBI World Championship...
Twin SBC turbos? and dry stacks? Its asking alot of them, me thinks...... |
Is that boat for sale again? Was keeping an eye on it on a auction site for a friend then it seemed to disappear
|
Yeah apparently gone,must have sold.
I was curious if it had major structure damage or had sunk. Almost appears two small square holes under the number 22 and forward ?? Thought someone here would have the 411. |
Ventilated stepped bottom. Phantom trademark.
|
Hasnt been damaged or sunk as far as I know, it just raced a few years ago.
|
Thank you for your info. !
|
Whatever happened to this boat? Is it back out racing yet?
|
Bad ass. Love the simplicity that went in that set up.

boat was repoed couple years back. motors (chiefs) and drives (ssmVI) were takin out before repo.
i think chief repoed their motors as well. hull and trailer bounced around from one dealer or seller to another. has not been on the race course since 2008, I believe. |

im not 100%. you may be right
|
Yeah, '09 Clearwater, just went to Trent's site, and '09 was when we had Marriott on the Fountain, it was definitely there that year as that is th only clearwater race I have been to and remember them tuning the big motors. I think I missed Key West that year, and not sure if they had it then. Pretty sure it was gone before beginning of '10 season though.
|
I watched and took pics in 09 as I think they took 2nd oa. That for me, set the phantom seed goin.
|
Rick
We did run the boat in 09 KW that was the last race we ran it. She has Cobra 1200 HP motors in it that yr. I believe or first race with the new motors was Sarasota of that yr. We ran the rest of 09 mich,NY, Clearwater, and KW Awesome boat loves the rough and can handle the HP the more the better she handled. At 126 MPH it handled and ran better then when she had 525's. |
Was this boat all yellow at one time?
|
No let Phantom the way u see , was all red at one tme when she raced 09
|
where is this boat now? Still available? The SV Phantoms in my opinion are one of the best looking boat ever.

not them, I'll think of it, maybe after I get some food in my belly, lunchtime now:lolhit: |
Ken Doyle, told ya food would help, now I need a beer:drink:
Here is a link to a thread when the boat was new. http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/g...race-boat.html |
Kenny's boat had 525 and bravo's , the one that Richie had was #6's (Greg's old boat). I beleive only 3 boats were ever built 2 with Bravos and 1 with #6's and all started out as 525 SV.

I wasnt too sure what Ken had for power, but I knew Richie had the 6's, remember the time in Marathon I drove the truck and trailer from the hose back to the pit and was afraid to back it up, thats part of the reason why:lolhit: Which boat is the third? |

Didn't one go to Europe as Microlink or was that a new build?
Found the article i was thinking of http://www.offshoreonly.com/articles.../phantom-fleet Kept an eye on the one in this thread that went to auction but not sure where it ended up after that. |
Last I heard the boat is still in Europe, and doing very well from what I hear.

The SV Family +
To capture all the bits n' pieces:
As Xtreme states correctly: Will built 3 of the 38's. #1 is kicking butt in Europe and was re-engineered by Will for the current owner/customer. The ongoing winning results are a testament to Will's improvements and innovative engineering. It did wear Bravo's in the early days, but is now sporting big boy Arneson's! #2 was built Ken Doyle as everyone states. I don't know all the details, but as I've thus far determined: Ken went through an expensive divorce and boating endeavors were curtailed. I know how this works as I'm just recovering from one also. Another fews years of alimony and I'll be able to afford a skirt steak grilled medium rare at the Golden Corral. Back to the boat: it appeared for sale on a couple of auction/sales sites, but apparently didn't change hands. Boat is in hiding along with Ken and will reappear, I'm informed, when he's ready to go have some more fun. My info is somewhat secondhand, but offered from a reliable source. #3 was built for Greg Rieschman (sp?) and eventually acquired by Richard Davis as XTreme relates and precisely with the power and drives described. Under the first owner's and throttleman Rick Tremelle's (sp?) watch, it started off with 525's and #6s; however, it went through a series of modifications. The success or failure of those mods is arguable, but "it is what it is." After Ritchie's acquistion and eventual return to the bank, it did go through a series of auction sales....one buyer failed on the note(we think) and the bank took it back again. This owner, Rafael Delego,( I think this is correct based on the name on the title) is the one who we believe put the little motors in it. Second auction sale went to a formidable owner outside of St Louis, L'il Jimmy McClellan, who ultimately decided it was too small for his motor application and is currently mulling over which builder to produce a new boat for him...Will is certainly in his pool of considerees, I'm told. As Will states in the message thread, it never saw water with the menagerie of turbo'd small blocks that the pictures depict. Drives were never installed and it might have leaked a little bit. Those engines, frankly, were garbage and likely put in there with the intent of making a big buck off of some "show n' glow". So whatever happened to the 2004 #3 hull? I and "Wild Turkey" bought it. And yes, we're going racing with it. It's a deliberately slow project and a lot of folks are collaborating with us to make it a renewed success....to include the master hisself, Brother Will. As repetitvely written in the thread, these hulls are beautiful boats and quite the ride. As you can likely discern, we're looking forward to putting her back into action. If I've left out any pertinent trivia or details, please pipe in. As we're trying to fill in the blanks, we've only got a few pieces of legal paperwork and such to go by. Will, Ritchie, Frank, L'il Jimmy, Tony , and Big Tuna (just to name a few) have been very helpful in the quest thus far. That's the short n' short of it. NEMO/skiffnbuck |

That could be the case if Ken commissioned #1, Vee's boat. I can't comment on that; however, Will clearly states #2(the yellow boat) was built for Ken. In turn, this begs the answer to "who was #1 built for originally"....I'll inquire of Will to answer that.
|
What power is going in the red boat? Where will it be raced?
