Ft Myers Offshore
Discussion thread-
suggestions and advice for organizing a group in the area.
I don't have a boat right now, but I have an idea. I've done a little graphic and have registered the domains FtMyersOffshore.org/net/com. I'd be willing to donate this to the cause if there is enough interest to give this a bit of momentum.
Interest so far has been very positive.
Any comments are welcome and appreciated.

Jay:
I'd be interested in gathering a group of interested boaters in the Southwest Florida area who want to participate in some "fun runs" or "poker cruises".
I don't want to hijack your thread, so if a discussion of SWFLA poker cruises belongs elsewhere, say so. Otherwise, is there any interest in organizing a group of boaters to organize a few cruises ?

Great idea Jay - it's the right time to do this. You can certainly count on my support. When I put together the New Years Day Fun Run there were several who commented that we should be having events like that more often. I have had positive feedback from those I have mentioned this to so far and will continue to spread the word and test the waters for support.

Re: Ft Myers Offshore
I'm in.
Since this would be mostly local boaters on weekend rendezvous' I would suggest the consideration to refrain from using the words "Organized" or "Event" in any correspondence, run or gathering. The terms may spurn "Liability" issues. It will take somebody with expertise in that arena to clarify.
The New Years Day Fun Run was a very good time even though slightly dampened by a little bit of foul weather. Even with that, it was an opportunity to get out and use these things and meet some more fellow boaters.
