I have the felling I'am one of the reasons you got so much heat. I was in the first group with 2 or 3 other boats doing 90 somthing when up to my port side I saw a cop with his flashing blue lights going. I just thougt he was there to watch till we blow by him and my wife said he looked pissed. The boats with me didn't stop so I just jamed the sticks. Sorry .

Bob,
At the north end of the lake the Gladiators got to breath at around 90mph.:D:D You know what im talking about.:D At least there were no cops around. I think everyone went fast at some point during the day. It's not one persons fault.
Good story ReggieRaft!!

Not anyones fault. It was posted in the thread that the speed limit was lifted/raised for the run. Seems that wasen't the case. Some wires got crossed somewhere.

We had the proper permits to put on the run, If you read the laws, We did have the right to run over the speeds. its a matter of interpritation of the law. We, including our lawyers read it one way, and the Park Commision reads it a different way. We could have fought ithis in the courts and won,w/o a doubt, but I can be pretty much assured that we would never ever have been able to run a boat at over 44 mph again on the lake w/o getting harrased. We are in the proccess of getting this all hashed out and planning with the commission on a 1 on 1 instead of courts

You and I both know that the LGPC rules, for right or wrong. along with a few people with big mouths and big wallets. As you said, court would have been a nightmare for every powerboat on the lake, not just the "offshore" ones. Unfortunatly we have a few tree hugers that don't want a single motorized boat on the lake. The only positive to that would be to watch their houses go from being worth millions, to thousands because LG would not be worth visiting if the 12K boats a year couldn't use it.

Too many rules. I contributed twice last year to the speed fund and the noise fund at Lake George a few weeks before the run. Having the run in the fall reduces the number of boaters out on the water and we all wear jackets. Bet those few with big mouths & big wallets that sail(because the winds FREE) or boat at slower speeds(too cheap to pay for gas) and can't swim, probably never put on a jacket or for that matter don't even know what the hell a life jacket is or what they are doing!! What is one or two days out of 5 months of boating going to hurt. They should really get a life, it's not all about them. What about the money that is raised for charity. Food, fuel, room rental, etc..

Oh, they were so organized themselves that many of us couldn't get a permit because all the vendors had to turn them in early. Guess the LG people lost a few bucks there, DUH!!

Personally, I hate that damn barbecue smoke coming across the water. Makes me nauseous. I start feeling dizzy. Can't damn see worth crap. Start coughing. I have to run to the damn store to get something to eat. Then I start to put on weight. Have to take medication for depression because I need to diet and don't look good. Can't fit into my Bolsters anymore. Have to sell the boat. They should ban barbecuing during the summer months altogether.

Go get them Bob!! We all want to meet again. You and the crew did a great job. Please tell the local LG Police that trying to stop a boat doing 90 by trying the old blocade routine doesn't work. They could even get themselves killed. Isn't that why we have registration numbers to begin with and binoculars? Go figure.

Ron
