Are there any speed or noise laws on Onieda? I was there once about 12 years ago, found a bay with about 30 boats hanging out in pretty shallow water, lots of fun !!

There are no speed limits in the lake. If you enter the canal at each end, there are regulations, but running the lake the speed limit is WOT after the pace boat drops the flag. Just keep it under control. As for noise, NY state has a noise regulation across the state that is in effect. I shouldn't state this because Murphy's Law will get me and I will be fined, but noise has NEVER been an issue on Oneida. Alcohol and safe operation are the biggest concerns for local law enforcement. Here is the state regulation http://www.boater101.net/Course/docu...Ystatelaws.pdf.

SL 8. Muffling Devices
The noise from a boat’s engine should not exceed 75 dB(a) when measured from the shoreline consistent with testing standards listed in SAE J1970, or 90 dB measured when stationary, according to testing standards described in SAE J2005. The SAE standards are set forth by the Society of Automotive Engineers. To meet these noise standards, motorboat engines must have to be equipped with factory-installed mufflers, exhaust water manifolds or other effective muffling system.
