Ok got it thanks for the info. I have only been on lakes with my boat. Can you get to the Mississippi river from lake Ponchartrain? I think it would be cool to ride by New Orleans.

You can but I've never done it. Very few pleasure boats on the Mississippi down here.

You can do it but its a pain in the Azz having to go thru the locks.

Just FYI for the out of town guys. There is free trailer parking at the Riverstop Chevron in Springfield. But, if they fill up or if anyone wants secure trailer parking behind a fence, a friend of mine that owns a mini-storage said he will accept boat trailers for that weekend. $30 Friday - Sunday or $40 Thursday - Sunday.
