I would email the guy's at gcoffshore.com. I know they go every year and usually list it on their calendar on the website.

Y'all read the Advocate this week? Mr. DeMars (owner of Prop Stop) is in a little hot water with the DWF and La DEQ. It seems he was illegally dumping garbage on another Killian resident's property. He was supposed to clean it up prior to the hurricanes but didn't. The water came up and his garbage floated all over the lower Tickfaw. DWF and DEQ were not amused. Could face some serious fines and possible jail time. The Haloween Bash might be in trouble this year. Don't know that for sure, just judging by what I read in the paper.

Thats not cool at all! I did hear a little about that. Man I sure hope they have it.

From what I am told they will not be having it. In fact it very well mean that we have seen the end of the prop stop. Things have been spiraling down for awhile. We hate that for halloween too, we have not missed one in 8-9 years.
All the river bars were severly hit from these storms.....looks like we are in for a big change. Croozin, come see us friday nite at lizzies. Hurricane "releif" drunk. We can talk about opening our own place. We got the "experience".
Sun Buns sustained no damage but Damon said he proably will not open till next year. Does not feel that there would be much boat traffic. Tried to talk him into having a halloween party, was receptive on the idea but had prior plans for halloween this year. Good possibility next.
So what ARE the local boaters going to do for Halloween THIS year???

Only problem Kenny is most of my experience in a bar is from the wrong side of the bar!!! Kinda be like putting the fox in charge of the henhouse!!:drink:

With Pier 13 changing hands, Fred's being destroyed, Middendorf's original building going to be razed and Prop Stop's ongoing issues there is definitely going to be an opportunity for someone to open another bar/restaurant on one of the lake's tributaries. Tin Lizzie's will continue on but with their food, there is plenty opportunity for someone to move in.

Problem with someone taking over the Prop Stop is that Milton was grandfathered in on many issues. The new owner would have to make some wholesale changes in order to come into compliance. Insurance would have to be a nightmare too.

As far as next year, I see Damon having a banner year. I like going there more than most other places anyway. Cold beer, good food and much less attitude than the other places. As always, we'll adapt and make the best of Summer '09.:ernaehrung004:

Just might see you Friday night. I've got to meet the insurance adjuster Saturday between 10:00 and 2:00 (That's really going to screw up my tailgating plans for LSU/MSU) so I may just ride down Friday evening and crash at a friend's place.

Man, I don’t like to hear that at all. That sure was a good time! We to have been going for the last 4 or 5 years.... gonna miss it that’s for sure!

Keep me posted if anything comes up.

Redline, I haven't met you personally but your story sounds very close to a good friend of mine's. If this first one ever goes bad for me, I don't think I'm gonna dive back into that end of the pool!:party-smiley-004:

Doug, we only want Charlie involved in limited property ownership down here. With the way he gets pissed off, he would ban everyone from the place and then we'd have nowhere to go!!!:drink:

Personally, I like Sun Buns better than Prop Stop. Still, I don't want to see it go under. As I said earlier though, while overhead isn't bad right now because they have been grandfathered in on so many things, if someone else bought it, it would take a substantial sum of money to bring it into compliance in many areas (ADA, sewer, water, safety, insurance). The place needs a LOT of work. The recurring monthly costs would also be through the roof. Remember, no power out there so they have to haul diesel out there for the genny each weekend - a LOT of diesel. Everything has to be brought out and back via boat (liquor, beer, ice, cups, food etc) and all garbage has to be brought back in by boat. Add to that the business is EXTREMELY seasonal and you would only be working weekends when everyone else is enjoying their boats. And with a bar, if you aren't there personally to oversee things, you will get robbed blind. It would seem like a great opportunity on the surface but I would bet the headaches and liability would far outweigh the money.

Just my .02

You right......

I asked around the river yesterday and the river is open. We are planning on running Satuday around noon-1 oclock. Don't know where we are going, maybe to gators den and back to warsaw. I seen the gators den doors open and alot of cars there wendsday.
Yea your right about the fox in the chicken coup croozin. It would be hard to make any profit and my liver would take a beating. Hope to see you tonight at lizzies. Your also right about the food at lizzies. Never figured that one out.
Charlie!!?? One or two parties a year is enough. We would all be banned in short order if something was open all the time.
I will give your compliments to Damon on sun buns. He would appreciate it. Oh yeah, Damon is now a bail bondsman!!!. Hell we can get drunk and have someone to call now. He has some cards, I will have to get some for the "at risk" crowd. Will not have the laptop this weekend, no sevice at river, but if anyone see's us, give us a shout. We will be on the river. Black Baja "Farfrompuken".
Ya'll be cool.

KajunATVer 09-26-2008 02:33 PM

Well said Croozin. Running the Prop Stop may sound like a good idea but once you think about it it seems that it would be a huge headache. I'm gonna try to get to the river Sunday and check out my boat stall at Charlie's since a tree fell on it during Gustav  Luckily I brought my boat to my house before the storm.

Got back from the river tonight and thought that I would pass on that Tin Lizzies will be open Friday and Saturday night this weekend. They are having a party for Labor day a little late. Storms screwed everything up. Alot of crap floating in river satuday. Actually saw 5-6 full trees floating in river and in the lake. Lake slick as glass that afternoon. Made a run to Gators den and hung out there. Water dropped about 3 inches over weekend.
Great weather. We will be there next weekend so ya'll come on and lets do some riding.
Croozin, you missed a good one. We (4 of us) made it out of there around 3. Bill and Patty came by for awhile.
Anyone planning on doing something special for halloween?

Sam Spade 09-28-2008 11:15 PM

Saturday, Oct 4th, Tin Lizzy's will open the bar at 6 PM, Live Music by Wasted Days 9PM-1AM. The restaurant will not be open. MVA
