hopefully the tickfaw 200 will have its date back next year...no offence to the royal purple run, just hope the tradition of the 200 will continue on.

Default Boat Procession May 1, 2 Tickfaw River

The Killian Police Department will host a boat procession in honor of "Crazy Charlie" and the Tickfaw 200 2010. Though the Tickfaw 200 was cancelled this year, due to transfer in ownership, the police department along with others invite all supporters and boaters to participate and not let this day go by without showing our love (or hate) for Charlie and to support the Tickfaw 200.
Boaters meet in front of Blood River Landing at 9:00 and will be lead by the Killian Police department to the lake. Go to riverratrob.com for all details.
The Propstop will be open and running water taxi all day. Contests, drink specials and a tribute to Charlie. A portion of sales will go to the Crazy Charlie Albert Memorial Fund which supports police and first responders in our areas.
The best of news of all...
THE TICKFAW 200 WILL BE BACK THE FIRST SATURDAY IN MAY (JUST AS BEFORE) IN 2011!!!!!

Improve what? The only poker runs in our area are the Tickfaw 200 and the Firemans Poker Run, these are the only guys on the Tickfaw river. I thought both of them were pretty good already?? Didnt really know they needed improvement or are you guys referring to another area and moving the Royal Purple totally away from the Tickfaw River and you mean you want to improve poker runs in that area???

Always room for improvement. I liked seeing all the boats at the first stop when it began at Jagers it would be great if they could find a spot to organize an official start like many other PR's have. I know our area is limited on dock space but I like seeing the other boat's as we make the stops.
Just my $.02 Any way it goes I look forward to warmer days on the water.

I may have worded the announcement wrong. I do not have anything to do with the Royal Purple Poker Run, I was posting to let others know that the Royal Purple Poker Run was going to be on May 1. That they were planning on making some changes to his poker run. I have done and posted pictures and info on most of the poker runs in the area (Lake Maurepas, Lake Pontchartrain and rivers around the area along with Poker Runs out of state. I think most poker runs are unique and this is the reason why we do the different runs on the same bodies of water. I cannot tell you what changes (improvements) he has planned due to it was a statement that was made to me.
I made the posting so that people can make their plans to what fits their schedule.

Craig, I know what you are saying. Don't shoot the messenger, you were just relaying what you told and asked to share.

IMPROVEMENTS..Always room for improvement. Even the best (Destin,Jax Fl.) make improvements to make the runs better and safer every year. I was told if Charlies ayers choose to carry on his run next year on the 1st that the date was theirs. Poker runners spend money and my group plans to hit every bar on the water TWICE..

Well, that isn't the way it circulated down here and is probably why there are some hard feelings. Regardless, it's just poor judgement. Nothing against the RP organizers but you gotta know you're gonna piss off some people by moving your PR to that date.

As far as improvements, everything is open for improvement/change. Some may like the changes, some may not. Personally, I would love to see the run stretched back out. It is called the Tickfaw 200, right? I know stops were limited in the years after Katrina but that's history now. I can run to Madisonville and eat lunch on any weekend. Let's run the damn boats.

Just sayin............
