A decision to postpone to Oct. 24 will be made by 9 pm tonight . We will have the lastest forecasts but it looks like no beach and a lot of debris . Mother nature sucks !!!! just my 0.02 |
We understand that .
Most of the boats are in the 15'-22' range and don't raft well , carry supplies well , or deal with debris well . |
looks like the "offshore" bunch might have to carry the flag on this one...
|
I should still be able to do the 24th. It will give me a chance to change the oil and empty off the extra crap this Sunday.
One thing you don't want to do is hit a big log at high speed. I hit a log with my Superboat back in 03 at about 50mph. It took the drive clean off the boat. When we drag the boat out of the water the drive was bouncing along the ramp hanging by the stearing pistons... |
I can't find anything that would push large amounts of h2o up river....and the rain is not significant...
http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydro...box&gage=hfdc3 yes there's tides, but the winds are wrong...unless the 1-2 feet suck brush out of the banks, on and already low river...shouldn't we be ok? |
Lets keep the guys with the smaller boats and long travels in mind. No one wants to travel a long distance to find out they have no where to go for Pizza and no place to hang out. I agree rafting could be difficult for some of the smaller rides.
I will probably not make it the following weekend We have other obligations so I am pulling for this weekend myself. Maybe if its OFF we will need to do an Offshore river run for the 17th if enough guys are still in! Wed have to get a head count or something. Sure would rather be there with all the smaller boats too though. I really enjoy them and watching thier fly bys. |
The CT River Run 2010 has been postponed to Oct 24 .
My apologies to those negatively affected by this decision . Because of the rain extending so far to the north the river will still be rising on Sun . That means no beach and likely a lot of debris . If you have already posted or contacted me and cannot make it please let me know for a "pizza count". Please help spread the word . Rich Owen [email protected] 860-214-1667 |
