I truly do not believe we will see them that high at all and if we do it will be short lived. The world economy will stall completely if it happens again. Speculation is the only reason it is even being brought up now. If it does happens this country and the world is in for real trouble.
|
Will not effect Jammin on the James, as this is the only one I do every year and the boat is full already.
|
Oil will pull back shortly,no one cares about Lybia. The whole run up was in fear of a revolt in Saudi, this is very unlikely.Margin amounts were raised yesterday for oil trades so the market is expecting a pull back
And if I am wrong it would not affect me it is still the cheapest part of boating. |
They are always at unrest over there, how is this any different than any other day.
The gas hike is all bs just pure greed and if the price makes 5$ this summer we are all screwed Prais god and pass the ammo :party-smiley-004: |
Remember "drill baby drill" right after that and the election the price came down. Just a hint that we will start drilling here and the price falls. ITS ALL BS.

Going to the wholesale club next week to stock up on dried beans, rice, other long term storable foodstuff. Seems like cheap insurance as long as the possible roving hungry bands don't have more firepower than me! |

Are you sure about that? I am 50/50 over whether the whole middle east becomes a total chaotic nightmare. Kindda funny with all the 2012 speculation. The worst part is some of that bug is sortta happening here with the Union Busting Tea partiers....not that I disagree.

And who cares if it devalues it down to nothing. Phuck every other country. We have everything we need here. The cheap dollar is not a problem if we get to drillin and stop importing.Exports and tourism would go through the roof if the dollar devalued anymore not to mention Everybody buying American because it would be as affordable as the imports. |
I say if your gonna hold back, do it on your local weekends so you can maintain your "Main Events" attendance.

I don't care what they charge me for gas. I will be there!!! It is the only time I am not thinking about work! I have to relax. And we love the whole experience. We are addicted.
|
More weekend floating, works good for the kids anyways. Planning on 2 runs this year. I usually only do 1 a year, so I gues it doesn't effect my poker run plans.

Oil is purchased around the world in US dollars. If you’re from Japan, you must by US dollars with your Yen before you can purchase a barrel of crude oil. In other words, no matter where you come from, before you can buy oil, you must exchange your currency for the US dollar.
Consider this: what if your currency (the Yen, for example) began to strengthen against the dollar? Naturally, because oil is traded in dollars, it would now be cheaper for you to purchase a barrel of oil simply because of exchange rates. That’s exactly what is happening right now! So what do foreign investors do? With an improving world economy, a growing need for oil, and a weak US dollar, investors are buying oil! And this kind of speculation is driving up the costs of crude oil. I expect Crude to go up to the $150.00-$175.00 per Barrel mark in the next 3-5 years. And yes stock up on Beans/Rice/Ammo you might not need it but if you do need it's there and buy energy stocks! I deal with major oil companies every day and work for the largest oilfield service company in the world and would not blow spoke up your A$$. SLB Schlumberger. 92.85 +3.20 3.57% I just love my discounted stock purchase plan. Up close to $30.00 a share from last year at this time. Can't wait for boating season hope you all have a safe year. |
Like what you are saying so far! We are full speed ahead for our run.
Now we just need to see those entries and sponsors! www.wnyfunrun.com [email protected] |
Just finished my "WILL WORK FOR GAS!" signs!!:lolhit:
|
I intend to do 4 Poker Runs & Race Around Long Island , I want to run my boat... do I give a damn about gas prices, hell no !!! I'll be dead a long time , and the 2 kids have graduated from college ! "HIGH LIFE"

I'm not exactly made of money, but compared to how much I've dumped into my rig, what's the difference if a tank-up costs $850 at the current prices, or $1200 at $5/gal? I'll still be pouring more money into just driving my 1/2-ton daily driver around to work every year than I'll probably spend in fuel for the boat.
Besides, I don't like the waterways being packed with fools anyway. I'd rather just have the folks out that really want to be there, take pride in their rigs, and are willing to pay for it. I can't stand golf, but I'm now old enough now (34) to get why people pay $30,000 or more a year to belong to a club where they can walk around on grass without being bothered. Other folks take $10-20k vacations. I think that puts a few grand for boat gas in perspective, if that's what you do for fun. |

But there is many others in the boating world and i would say the majority who after fuel increases 30 to 40 percent will say . Sorry kids boating was fun but a roof and food is the practical answer. And there lies the problem of maintaining a sustainable industry in the marine environment. And i have seen many of the blow 30 to 50 thousand on engines a year guys disappear overnight also .Not only because of fuel but the economy also. Marinas used to be backed up 2 to 4 years here .Now they have plowed 50 percent of them and there is still a 10 to 40 percent vacancy in many of them.. It's mind boggling to me about where the hell did all the boats go . Overseas? Life can be good ,but damn it can turn to chit in a heartbeat. |
The price just keeps going up! It's starting to get scary.

how'd that work out for ya ???:coolcowboy: Ok for me,might have sold a little to early but when I have 38% in 6 months I take my profit.I still feel oil will pull back but we will see.Been trading VLO getting some decent swings. Not enough to get me one of those big indoor cement ponds but I am working on it.:drink: |
Wont change any of my summer plans my summers are only 4 month as it is in pa and i paid 100k for a boat im damn sure going to use it.:drink:
|
won't change my summer plans either, I'll still be trying to make that new gas tank fit and blower motor from last year:party-smiley-004:. hey we are getting phucked bad oil is only 100.00 to 104.00 right now and so gas was 2.75 to 2.85 at 90 bucks a barrel. it goes up 10 to 15 bucks and we pay .60 to .80 more. HELLO HEY OBAMA a lil price gauging here I think. man if bush was in office the crybabys would be outraged. hell in my town it got up to 4.20 at 1.40 a barrel. the way its going we will be at 4.20 a barrel = 5.50 G. well I hope to be in the water by may so I can run a 100mph for 2 mins to the sandbank off plymouth mass known as BROWNS BANK where traction kites, sand golf are the norm. once in a while a dirt bike may show up :evilb:. we are getting phucked so phuck them.
|
gotta just budget your summer with gas. I estimate and hopping 5$ a gal in the summer, running 110 gal tank (242 Formula with a 350). I figure 2000 will give me two months of every weekend on the boat. Not bad. You have to just put money aside now to be ready for it.
|
So when this post came out gas was $ 3.25 a gallon. Just went by a gas station it was $ 3.94 a gallon. with gas looking like it not going to stop when will people start pulling back ? Or what will be your breaking point ?
|
It will not affect the amount of runs or running time, However we will do runs that benefit a charity or organization of some sort rather then try the "get rich quick" high dollar runs where someone lines their pockets and you win some prizes that were donated. You can't take it with ya and at least I can say I've been there and done that. Even if I'm sitting on a state pier fishing watching the boats go by. :party-smiley-004:
|
no poker runs and light use at those prices.
|
At these prices or higher it will definately affect me some. Will still be on the water as much as possible but the high dolllar poker runs will probably be out of the question. Also will probably limit the long blasts on any given weekend and save em for the big trips. Next thing is diesel at 4.30 plus to tow the boat anywhere is going to suck.
|
There goes the kids Saturday night dinners!! :lolhit:
|
GD it! just hit 3.99 for 87 oct today. Whatever!
