2013 Category 5 Shootout
After many discussions and meetings I finally was able to put on a shootout for the south. With the backing of the Smokin The Sound organization and help from many others. The shootout is just another event to enjoy with the already pouplar poker run and offshore races . The event will start with a kick off party on Thrusday April 25 , Shootout 26, Poker run 27, Offshore races 27&28. Preregistration will be offered on the Smokin the sound website www.smokinthesound.com
The event is for the fast and the furious to major bragging rights on the water! There will be classes according to the size boats also stock up to totally custom machines .
It can be boats 25'-50'. We are going to offer time and speed trials and for the first time in any shoot out side by side racing if you choose.
We will also be offering parking for all registered boats in our race village . Boats slips are available apon request . We will also offer fuel from a fuel truck on site and boat lauching from a crane if you don't want to back in.

The races,poker run and parties at Smokin the Sound have always been a great time.
The casinos and viewing area compare to no other place. We're can you watch offshore races and view the entire coarse!!
My son who has been riding in 100+ mph cats since he was a toddler has his own bad ass cat and always thought how great it would be to have a shoot out in the south!!
Nothing against Loto or desert storm but there's some serious hitters in this area and have always torn up the waters of Lake Pontchartrain and the gulf. Hell we shared the waters with Al Copeland the offshore legend!!
Make no mistake we have always raced across the causeway during the TicFaw 200 which is one of the oldest poker runs in the country! Problem was no one could enjoy it because we were in the the middle of the lake crossing 25miles.There was also kilo runs in the intercostal water way. No land spectators.
Jeremie and his Smokin the Sound partners have put together a very professional shoot out with the safety of any offshore race.
The big difference from Category 5 Shoot out and the others I've attend will be side by side racing after the time trails.Racing a GPS and radar gun is great but people love the side by side racing. Lets face it the best part of a offshore race is the start. Can't wait to smoke the sound!
