1st meeting last night to start planning another awesome event!! Thank you to all the boaters who made Boyne Thunder 2013 such a great weekend, hope we will see you in 2014!

s022mag 09-27-2013 02:56 PM

Count me in:bunnydance:

When will registration start?

mainstreet 09-27-2013 03:57 PM

Pete will let is know, not until late spring I would think

check300 09-29-2013 08:59 AM

We will be first time participants with our new boat. We've heard so much about Boyne and are very excited to be there.

boatfreak 09-29-2013 09:10 AM

This run is top notch and we will be back for our fourth yr in a row.

RT930turbo 10-15-2013 01:37 PM

Can't wait! It's already on the calendar! Going to make a week or two vacation out if it again.

mainstreet 10-15-2013 03:21 PM

More news from FPC. They are sorry to say that they are running behind and have not been able to finish the DVD yet. The positive way to look at it - it is always nice to have a fresh DVD to watch during the winter to help with the boating blues if you are covered with snow.

teamsynergy 10-15-2013 06:46 PM

We are going to try and make it... it was a blast this past year!!! Thanks to Team Sommer Thunder!!!

We cruised at 55-60 and stayed with a good group of boats no problem.

offshorexcursion 10-15-2013 09:41 PM

Honestly i have seen some of the CC run wide open the entire run! They are wave crushers with a warrenty! 75mph. But there are a lot of boats that average cruise Below 60 so you will be fine. Its an amazing event that is very welcoming to all.

Looking forward to another great year!

phragle 10-15-2013 09:56 PM

I may very well be the smallest boat to run....

bill63 10-16-2013 06:03 AM

We will be there !!!

bill63 10-16-2013 06:06 AM

Btw... First boat to the first card stop was a Nor tech CC and he was moving ..we had a hard time hanging with him in our 42 Fountain

feline frenzy 10-22-2013 02:25 PM

ill be there again, already got the gang together and working on sleeping arrangements! PHRAGLE, YOU GOTTA DO IT MAN! who cares how fast or size of your boat, the people you will meet and the scenery is bar none!

mainstreet 10-22-2013 05:50 PM

Phragel has helped us out before and been on the course with a buddy of mine. You don't have to do the full run to get your cards, just fun to have your own boat on the lake.

Drock78 10-22-2013 07:46 PM

we just went up to hang out, meet new people with the same sickness and have fun.. and did just that. Even after blowing my motor the first day up. lol I dont think that you can have a bad time

Pwraddr 10-23-2013 05:29 PM

We are planning on returning in 14.

We will be there for 2014, This is great event.....BE THERE!!!!!!

s022mag 10-28-2013 09:45 AM

I know we were close to the smallest boat and probably the slowest, we skipped the farthest card stop just because we knew by the time we got to the lunch everyone would be leaving.

We've only been to this poker run and can't imagine anything topping it, friendly town, people, and most of all Lake MI was happy that day so it made for a nice cruise. There were points in the run where I felt like I was boating in the Caribbean, absolutely beautiful up there, that's hard for me to say about MI being a Buckeye guy.:lolhit:

Dukedonzi 10-28-2013 10:40 AM

I have lived and Boated on Green Bay, part of lake Michigan on the other side, all my life and I have always heard about the Charlevoix area from boaters that went over there and how great it was even compared to where I live. We went over for Boyne last year... I was impressed. I plan to make that an annual trip, as others have said... WOW!

I didn't do the poker run, we just watched, but none the less I can't say enough about how nice it is over there, how friendly all the people are, how beautiful the water and scenery are. Someday when my Boat and wallet are bigger, I want to do the poker run as well.

ryan9154 10-31-2013 11:30 PM

We'll be there again this year.

phragle 11-01-2013 06:55 AM

Ryan, you got a BT now??

I only run 65 tops, cruise at 50 and I had a blast when I ran in 2012. I lost most of the group in the first leg, but there were still a few others to run with that still made it more than entertaining. I ended up leaving the lunch stop ahead of the group and found it more entertaing watching the big dogs come blasting past in smaller groups out in the open lake. That was a blast! its worth it.

John, my wife and I are talking about heading over this year the week before and making a 1.5-2 week trip out of it this year, maybe we'll see ya's over there, or catch your convoy going down US2.

We watched in 2011, ran in 2012, and missed 2013. Let me tell ya sitting on the dock with a broken boat on the wrong side of lake michigan knowing boyne thunder was happening was depressing. We we close to jumping in the truck and driving over to watch again.

Like others have said the location, the stops and the people we met at this event are fantastic, we are not going to miss another year.

Ryan, and Jason, my wife still talks about your blackthunders, thanks again for letting us aboard your boats in 2012.

Dukedonzi 11-03-2013 09:16 PM

Halfgassed, PM me with your contact info again... I wiped my phone out and had to start all over. I would love to hook up and convoy over!

Rob theres a trick to running a slower boat (not slam'in yer boat :D) when I still had my Scorpion it would barely break sixty and what I would do is when the boats would mill at the start I would go as far in the direction of where we were going and still see be able to seethe start boat. When we did take off I would run whatever I could and just let boats go by one by one (not that I could do anything about it lol) and it ended up being a pretty cool way to see all the big guys running. When we did make the stop I would be on the outside anyway and this would allow me to do the whole thing over and gave me a front row seat again

funny thing is even in that boat I was still in the middle of the pack most times, a good half of about any poker run just cruises anyway.

Our loose plan is to arrive Tuesday and leave Monday.

mainstreet 01-01-2014 02:11 PM

One of my customers took the picture, some day when I grow up I hope I can take pictures like that.

Dukedonzi 01-01-2014 07:03 PM

I just watched a show on HGTV, I know, I already turned in my man card. Anyway, they featured a house on round lake, Charlevoix. What an awesome lake house, the big brown place with an enormous boat house. I think I sat in my boat just off his dock and watched the boats go through for the poker run last summer. That is the second time I have seen a house from the Charlevoix area featured on TV. The other was a "Super" log home on lake Charlevoix. I know that there are many homes like that in the area. Being from a small town where we don't have anything to compare to it I think that is just incredible. Yet another reason to come and spend some time in the area around the poker run.

I have said it before and I will say it again, what and incredible area to go boating and have an event like the Boyne Thunder poker run. Florida Powerboat Club has coined the phrase "Power Boating in paradise" that could apply to Northwestern Michigan just as easily, in my opinion.

mainstreet 01-01-2014 07:20 PM

The boat house belongs to one of the Wynn brothers. As in Four Wynn boats. They sold the company off along time ago. Cool place!
