True! I did the NYC run from 2000 until 2010. Spectator 1998-1999. Those were some crazy days. As sick as the competition was, I kept my pace and didn't blow sh!t up. We had just as much fun hanging out at the dock as everyone else. Maybe a little more!

Thanks. That write up brings back some memories. Dock was fun, and so was the Sandbar! Lost one of my crew one night and found him sleeping 3 rows over on the cockpit floor of some grimy fishing boat the following morning:drink:

I'd vote for Boyne Thunder fo' sure.... Lots of "Everything".. Run as much or as little as you want.

Over the past 10 years, I've done the full run, none of the run, 1st leg only, 2nd leg only, and everything in between.

Some guys are up there all week, I go up mid week, and others show up on the weekend.

I'm not sure what everyone has against an OB though??? I boated 115-120mph+ for 4 straight days, burning almost 800 gallons of fuel without a single issue.

From a practicality stand point its a no brainer OB v IO. For me its the allure of not knowing how much HP or how fast a boat is. With these outboards the educated powerboater knows how fast that boat will be within 5mph for the most part. There's nothing quite like looking in an engine bay at some blown big block and thinking holy sh!t.

is anyone modifying these V8 V10 or V12 powerheads? they should be able to add a few hundred hp to these stockers the sound of a pair of V10s with headers should sound awesome, of coarse for racing use only.... its also worth noting none of these outboards have cats as they are exempt as far as i know a pair of open exaust V10s on a cat screaming into town ought to help with crowd entertainment factor right now the bass boats are more exciting

will get a friendly letter from daddy merc.

for racing use and no warranty you must be able to modify these outboards? jet skis do and they are similar engine designs

There are 100% people modifying these outboards and turning the power way up.

I’m a rookie and I don’t know sh*t. All the runs I did last year were great.

Hey Phil,
You`re not going to find many CC or egg beaters at this run up in the UP.

I love that area, it`s beautiful especially Chambers island.
