Safety.

Remember, these guys will run in just about anything!

More than 1 person told me how big the water was in that 1st race!

If they run in anything the seas will dictate. Speed cap, speed crap.
I hope they pay well.

Robbie,

You already are watching 100 mph boats do 87 mph avg here in the States...

Perhaps you should have a look at the average speeds from this year's Sarasota Race ?

Your 2 fastest Fountains in the country "Super Vee Class " averaged 87.6 and 86.54 mph.

While you are at it, look at the Super Vee Unlimited Class:
All Fountains, averages 86.94mph & 86.71 mph

Miccosukee averaged 87.6 mph with (stock) Mercury 525's.

but 4 weeks later breaks a record turning in 115 mph with those same engines ?
I wonder who certified those fire breathing record breaking engines? Then again, you can't compare race set up to a kilo setup. Just amazes me that there would be such a difference.

Sharkey, why are you so surprised by those speeds? 115 is not so far fetched. We hit 110 in race trim during a race in '04. 3 years later, the boats get lower and lower decks, add new propellers on 6'S and there you are. Kilo them in winter and they will go higher speeds. Thats not a fire breathing record setting engine feat, its technology marching on. 120 is just around the corner.

It's the price to be paid for running under UIM Pleasure Navigation rules vs UIM Offshore Racing rules.

Was that the same Skater Vee that Nigel Hook beat all of the Fountains last year at the Worlds in Key West ???
