Just last year Nigel won several times -- Sarasota, Washington NC (decisively from green to checkered flag), and the World Championship in Key West.
The SKATER, #11 Joe Boxer was 2nd in Key West.

Nigel has also beat Fountain in his Scarab...many times including (once in Washington)...
Sharkey,

You are correct....Nigel won several races last year in his new Skater and won World title after defeated 2005 World Champion Yachts Fountain. He has been racing for more than 15 years. If you dont know who he is...Feel free to look up on his website (www.nigelhook.com)

Cheers,
Chris

unfortunately the boats have evolved so much that the speed limit really hurt the show on Friday. We had already decided that we would slow down around the back of the island so no fans could see this, some boats decided to not do this and made a mochery of it! We calculated it perfect, well almost, as we ran the whole last stretch wide open to put on a show for fans, and Outerlimits who had backed off apparently won ( which to me is still a question) but congrats anyway! They said it was 7/1000 of a second difference.
Sunday was a very good race. We had the lead for 7 laps, on lap 4-5 we got some vibrations, then on lap 7 we made a mistake and Outerlimits cut inside of us. With the vibrations we decided not to over push the equipment and leave cowes with our 120 points lead! Great race!! If you go to You tube and put in Powerboat p1 (king of shaves) you will see how we got pushed wide and as we came through the rooster tail we had no idea OL were on our inside and kind of kissed off of them!!!
Belgium will be a good race, our goal is the world champioship.
Please do not bad mouth P1 and the rules. They were made to look bad on Friday, but they will rectify these problems and it will be a fantastic series!! The crowds and atmosphere made even Key west look sub paar!

That was a bold move to choose to go through someone's roostertail blind in a corner knowing your competition had to be in that same corner somewhere !

Did you make contact ?

That Outerlmits sure corners like it is on rails !

The Illmors didn't sound like they missed a beat !
What kind of exhaust do you use to get that kind of sound out of them! They sound great !

We were told off for being to agressive whilst laping the supersports on friday, so we decided to stay to the outside of them and they about ran us up the beach!!
We just about made contact i think we were floating on his port side.
We had no choice but top go through if you look the supersport boat squeezed us onto the steel marker, was not about to run that over!!
The Ilmor engines are fantastic, the sound is from the V 10, the exhausts are the same as on Yachts and Miccosukee.
It was good racing. We apologised to Mike and Joe, we didnt know they were that close, as we had a 6 second lead going into the turn!

wcmarine , you said you apologised to Mike and Joe, I'm confused how throttled? Both Joe and Nigel are drivers did they flip a coin or is it some sponsor deal naming Nigel? Did you get beat by a couple of drivers? Ouch.

It's after the fact, and it is still unclear whether you hit the Lucas Oil Outerlmits ???

With the driver on the starboard side of your boat, and trailing some distance behind Extreme after you swung wide, how is it that you missed the second prop wash in front of you that carried all the way around the turn ?

It sure seemed as though there was a clear view of the inside of the turn from your position after going wide.

You didn't have only 1 choice. There was another. It just seemed reckless to dive inside a boat through a rooster tail and not knowing what was on the other side or did you ?

Sort of reminds me of a turn in Key West last year......

Nigel Hook, Joe Sgro and Mike Fiore share the Lucas Oils Outerlimits boat ... but only two at a time! The P1 series allows you to nominate up to three crew and you can switch them around from race to race. Some drive, some throttle, some do a combo of both over the two race weekend. It's their call. In Cowes Nigel ran the 'endurance' race and Joe took over for the 'sprint' race.

Chris- Thank you for your response. That makes more sense that Mike throttled both races.
