Yeah it was the best racing of the day, until that happened.
All three boats were within a few seconds of each other, with Geico looking set to make a pass on the inside UAE when they last crossed the start finish line. Then everyone vanished on the north end of the course. Followed by the radio call, "Geico is over.." I haven't seen any footage of the roll overs yet, but 222 had the perfect seat to catch all the action. Word on the water was a rouge wave caught both teams exiting the turn, with Geico still in second place, going over first...
Main thing, everyone walked away uninjured to race another day. UAE actually showed no signs of damage when they loaded it on the trailer. My only phone pics from the course were crap, but that UAE boat floated so good on her top, they had a really hard time getting it flipped back over for the tow in. Here is some before and after shots worth sharing.
