Default Old race boat found

I was showing a boat in Newburyport Massachusetts yesterday and stumbled across an old race boat.

It was a Cat and it was made out of WOOD!

It said "Flap Jack" on the side and had the number 45.

Very much trashed, but unique looking.

It had large engine hatches in the back.

Anyone ever heard of this boat?

What was the relationship between Powerplay and Cobra? The Cobra that is wrecked on post # 7 looks alot like the Powerplay hull. Did PP evolve from Cobra?

the powerplay was built from the cobra hull dan weinstein used to race the cobra hull and was national champ,i haved owned 3powerplays 1 1993 33 sportdeck 1 1990 33 spordeck 1997 sportdeck all had 502 bravo, i am currently restoring 1980 cobra raceboat and the hull is identical to powerplay, the deck is also identical to powerplay racedeck, the other cobra raceboat i have seen have a different style deck, i am not sure how many cobras were built with powerplay style deck i talked to dan weinstein and he knew about my boat but did not build it he was not sure how many cobra s like mine were built anybody else have one ?

The original Cobra's were built and sold by a racer named Billy Elswick. ANy boat named Flap Jack was once owned by Howard Quam. Howard purchesd a Wooden Cougar cat that was previously raced by Betty Cook under the KAAMA name. It may be that boat.
