Re: Finally!!!
That boat does look mint - can't wait to see it in person! I talked to the guy who all the marinas around here use and he can make me an angled flush mount so I can put the GPS right in front of the wheel angled straight toward me. That's the way I'm leaning right now.

Re: Finally!!!
Thanks guys - It would be much more convenient in front of the driver than on the passenger side. I really don't need the chart plotter in Lake George, I just want to know the speed. It took me an hour to figure out that SOG was the same as MPH, still trying to figure out how to hold the highest speed hit if it will do that. I'd be happy with a GPS speedo with a tattle tale.

Re: Finally!!!
XPRESS 33PP - I grew up on Skaneateles Lake (one of the finger lakes in upstate NY), knew it like the back of my hand and I would never have needed a GPS there. Seeing that I'm now on the Long Island Sound, the Sound is huge, with endless destinations, obstacles, tides, etc. as well as only 3 years of my knowledge/experience (some might quite possibly say stupidity :D ) the GPS is cheap insurance for me. I'm going to be relying on it a lot for trips, cross referencing it with my paper charts, plotting waypoints, and using them to get me to where I'm going without ending up on someone's reef (hopefully!!).

Re: Finally!!!
Jromy- I don't blame you for wanting one. I was caught in a heavy fog at night on the lake with my Searay before and wish I had one then. I 'm not planning on using the Powerplay like I used the Searay (booze cruises at night and camping in the narrows and all) but it is nice to have one on board. I just have to take the time to read the book and find out how to use the thing. I'd also like to know how fast I'm going or how fast we went without having to have the passenger relay it to me from the other side of the boat. That's why I'm thinking of adding the GPS speedo.

Re: Finally!!!
Nice Powerplay!

Re: Finally!!!
Hey JROMY:
Nice Avatar!! Cleaned FT all day yesterday. Was going to run it on the hose for a short bit today. Are you at the marina today? Dumping FT in this weekend. Are you going to take her out? Let's get together. Call me. |
Re: Finally!!!
Hey Full Throttle - I am finally back home and man am I sore. I've decided that I would never buy a 47 Apache just because I can't imagine having to wax that much hull :p . The good news is that the boat is completely washed and waxed, and ready to go. I'll call you early this week because I'm ready to go out next weekend :drink: .

Re: Finally!!!
JROMY:
I did the same. Cris did the interior with her girlfriend and I did the outside wash & wax. Shoulders definitely ache. Ran it on the hose for a bit and fixed the trailer lights. Need a new caliper. Getting a few odds & ends from Dana Marine. I should have the lift in the water this week and will be ready to run with you this weekend. Looking forward to it. |

Re: Finally!!!
Hey Lake George boaters - I'm supposed to be up there over Memorial Day for a friend's birthday. I'm debating whether to bring the boat or not. Is the Lake an absolute zoo over the holiday? I'm definately coming up there later in the summer with Ron (Fullthrottle 525), so should I wait until an "off" weekend?

Re: Finally!!!
jromy,
Bring the boat on memorial day , alway's plenty of running room up on the north end of the lake . It will be busy in town , so if your coming up get reservations soon . Let me know when you get Ron to come up and I will make sure I'm up that weekend also . |
Re: Finally!!!
You guys suck :D I got no Powerplay's to play with over here on the West Coast :(
|
Re: Finally!!!
So if I bring the boat up, I'll be staying in a hotel. Where do I leave the boat and trailer?
|
Re: Finally!!!
JROMY:
Could we put a hitch on the back of your trailer so you can pull my boat up there as well!! Need to get my brakes fixed first though. This damn rain is putting me behind!! |

If this rain keeps up (like they say it will), I may say the F*#$ with it, and go out in the rain. I'm getting tired of looking at the boat sitting on the trailer. I've got rain gear from my sailing/offshore fishing days, so no reason I can't throw that on and take a blast. Feel like going? |

Hey Jromy , I just got back from Lake George , the Poker Run went real well . Only one real nice 33 Power Play up there , I heard it ran flawless and well into the 80's , have you run yours yet ? Sonny's 28 looked and sounded awesome , last I saw him he was heading out with a boatfull of ladies , and a big smile . |
Re: Finally!!!
TurboEd - you're killing me :D
Hey Morgan - So far, I have only run (or should I say ridden in) my boat for about 30 minutes when John Tomlinson and I took it out for the sea trial (almost a month ago). I was planning on running my boat here all weekend (since we finally got some sunshine), but unfortunately a minor power steering leak turned out to be what looks to be a cracked steering cylinder, so I was out of commission all weekend. I'll know tomorrow exactly what the problem is, and how soon I can get the part to fix it. It looks like next weekend is going to be my first chance to run the boat. By the way, that's great news that Sonny finally got his boat out on the water. |
Re: Finally!!!
i was kidding talon,as much as i hate them i wouldn't now unless you ask.

Jromy , get that leak fixed and get to the water , looks like the weather is gonna be great this week . |
Re: Finally!!!
Yo JROMY!!
Leak ? Not good. Hope you get it fixed soon. I may try to dump mine in for this weekend. Need to get a ramp sticker. Having fun in Vegas. C U soon. Morgan...spoke with Pantera today. Your boat is almost finished. Can't wait to see her. I should get my hydromotive prop QIV-X 25p this week. Hope to see a bit of a difference than the 26 labbed. We'll see. Ron |
Re: Finally!!!
Jromy what speeds are you getting and what props?

Well, my new steering ram went on today, and I actually got out on the water after work. Boat ran great - can't wait to get out there this weekend again. Here's a picture launching (I'm not sure if I'm attempting a karate kick or a split), and a picture just before I put it back on the trailer. Hopefully this weekend I'll get to spend some real time on the water and see what GPS speeds I'm running.

Re: Finally!!!

Re: Finally!!!
Jromy... looks great. Best of luck with it.
Sweet upgrade too!! You and Ron should make a run to Port Wash. I made it from PW to WestPort in 45mins running at 45mph 2yrs ago. Sweet Run. Enjoy the summer! |
