Gas use?

Just wanted to know what you guys with 33 i/o 496/500 stock power use for gas(how many gallons)for a day out on the water. I know it depends on how hard how far blah blah blah. But lets say a 60 mile trip with some cruise and some wot blips. Also give some real world personal numbers. Thanks

I don't have my PP yet.......end of the month :D What I can tell you is that 60 miles is a sort-of long trip considering gas prices these days. Most people probably won't cruise that far.

To answer your question, I would guess that you would use approx. 60-70 gallons of fuel for that distance.

Well, I haven't run mine too much yet, but here is some VERY rough information w/ 525s. I ran the boat across the L.I. Sound and back twice running pretty good 65-75mph (about 14 miles each way), and then I ran it for about another 20 miles at various speeds, and I burned about 1/2 a tank of fuel. So that is about 76 miles and half of the capacity of 190 gallons of fuel would be about 95 gallons, so I guess my average is about .80 miles/gallon. For a 60 mile run at cruising speed (not varying to play with tabs, trim, etc.), I'd guess the boat would get over 1 mile/gallon.

I guess I wasn't too far off the mark :D I do alot more boating at the lake now....where you do less boating and more relaxing and partying. That saves alot of $$$ in fuel costs.

Wow, I was thinking with HP500's, 1/2 a tank would be enough for the NYC Poker Run. Maybe not.

I would fill up to be safe :D I'm sure the extra fuel weight will be good and make the boat heavier when that water is all churned up from all the boat wakes.

I burned about 60 gals with the 496ho's during the Lake George poker run which was about 65 miles. Ran most of the time around 70 mph 3800 to 4200 RPM's. Put $150.00 in, 26 gals in each tank at $2.89 a gal on land. It brought it from a 1/4 of a tank to 3/4's of a tank and at the end of the day it was just beolw a 1/4 tank. I hope this helps.

Active - I'd throw the extra fuel in just for the extra wave crushing ability in that crazy New York Poker run water. As soon as I get the GPS in the boat, I'll fill it and do some long runs to see what I'm really getting for fuel burn compared to actual speed and distance. XPRESS- we need to set a date with Full Throttle and the rest of you Lake George guys to either go there...or here!!
