I have been fortunate enough to spend a lot of time in various types of performance boats. We have two powerplay's: 28' and 38'.

A 33' powerplay will keep up with most boats that are bigger than its size. Definitely not a 38' top gun, but it will hold its own. Thats what they are known for. Big water, high quality custom v hulls.

Dont knock them until you have ridden in one and got up close. I think you will be surprised!

So are you saying the 38 Cig would ride & handle better than the 33PP theres alot of conflicting opinions here and I have not had the pleasure of riding in a cig yet but def going to find one to take for a ride

I have seen more stress cracks in a 38 TG then in a 33 PP ,,,handling ,,ofcorse does a longer boat take the beating better then a shorter one ,,,but HIGH QUALITY ????? On a cig ?
mmmmmhhhhh................Whatever.....?!
All i am saying that a 33 PP is capable of keeping up ,maybe not @ 80+ but u need twin 1000 and some heavy drives to make a TG run those speeds .
We are talking 7200 pounds verses 12000 pounds !!!!!
With stock power ,my PP ran 76 on GPS, 454 mag and Bravos.
A buddy of mine had a TG same engine package ,,i smoked him in all kinds of water,,because he could not even get the stern up in that heavy sled.
Then a Cafe with 420's and TRS joined the club ,,,,,smoked him as well,,,so first of all ,,,i guess we should determine what power in each boat and where are u going to boat with what in mind...party's and allot of people on board or just fun runs.......otherwise all these comparisons don't make sense.
Also the budget factor is A REAL BIG THING between the 2 boats.
And like i said before ,,,4-6 footers in both ,,u need balls,,in the PP a little bigger ones ,,but if the boat is dialed in correctly ,,it should hang with a 38 easy.
Handling ......what kind of handling are we talking ???.......docking and trailer ....+2 for PP
5-10Foot seas ,,,,+1 for TG (older ones)the new ones will fall apart)
Fuel economy ,,,,no way a TG can hang with a 33PP in that point.
Maintenance ,,i say PP wins.
Working on the engines,,,TG has more room to work on.
Cabin ,,ofcorse the TG wins.
It all depends,,but lets not compare speed and handling in 5+ seas because thats not what a boater want's anyway's and its out of question that u need twice as big of a check book for the TG then for the PP.
If i would still have mine ,,i give all of u Cig guys a ride in it ,and u would probable think about selling your cig.LOL:grinser010:
Later.:coolcowboy:

PS.: with my twin 650's and boxes infront of my Imcos,,,i smoked them anyways and all the time,,the only one i can think of that gave me a hard time ,,THEN,, was a 388 Hustler with twin 600 VOLVO's ???? mmmhhhh.........:angry-smiley-038:
here is apic of my old ride.

I've previously watched all those videos a few times. Very cool setup. Did you race that boat?

Yes - it is after all heavier and longer. However, like with everything else, there are trade off's. You will need more power to run a 38' straight bottom top gun etc. Do yourself a favor and take a ride in a cig. You will know right away what you will want to do.

I happen to have a soft spot for the lines of a 33'. There isnt a better looking or riding 33 in the market imho.
