Here is the running plug of the 42.' ALL we are testing here is the bottom. So the hull sides, transom transition angle and the gunnel designs will ALL change. We hung 4 motors on the transom (2 were actually running and the other two were there just for a realistic weight so we could get the measurement to make sure the cockpit is self bailing) so we added water in 250 gallon tanks to simulate the actual fuel and water capacity the finished product will offer. We expect the final 42’ with twins to weigh between 11,000 and 12,000 lbs. Triples add 1000 lbs and quads add another 1000 lbs. We loaded the boat to 15,000 lbs and took our measurements for a water line. Next we installed a pair of 19 pitch mirage 3 blades and took her out. 72 degrees humidity hovering around 60% and we did our test runs on a fresh water lake. The running motors were the two on the outside, 1:85:1 gear ratios and they turned 6300 to 6400 Rpm's, she ran 53 to 54 MPH. We won't bore you with all the interim runs moving water around the boat (changing CG). We pulled the boat, removed the two center motors and changes the props out to 24 pitch 4 blade bravos. At 14,000 I knew she was not going to be able to turn the 24 but I was so impressed with the 19's at 15,000 lbs I could not wait to run her and if we could get 42 feet of center console to run 60 MPH with twin 300s. At 14,000 lbs she only turned up 5500 Rpm's so we started dumping water. Again I wont waste your time with the interim runs but at 12,000 lbs she hit 60 MPH. We dumped all the water and did two last runs. 3500 Rpm's 36 MPH and 18 GPH (That’s 2 freaking miles per gallon!) At 40 MPH she was burning 24 GPH and that is 1.7 MPG (I know its only 1.6666). We pinned it and she jumped to 50MPH in less than 4 seconds we went right past 50, then 55, then 60 and at the end of the run the final numbers were 6200 Rpm's and 63.9 MPH! We know there was no top, no interior etc and only 2 people but its a great start. We met some guys in a bass boat and asked if they would allow one of us to ride with them to be able to get running shots of the 42’ and that is how we got the video. Thanks guys if we can ever return the favor do not hesitate to call. After the video runs we hauled her out and headed directly to a scale. Earlier while the boat was in the water I ran the truck and the trailer to the scales to get a net reading. F 350 Ford 4 door long bed with a triple axle boatmaster aluminum trailer came in at 10,400 lbs. With the boat on the trailer the gross weight was 20,900lbs. At 10,500lbs a 42' boat being pushed by (2) 300HP Verados mounted way to far outside (see the picture) running in fresh water with no chop and the motors mounted too deep ALMOST hit 65 MPH! When she is fully rigged we expect to offer triple engine speed and performance with twin outboards! So if these number hold true we should be able to expect with twin 350 Yamahas 65 to 70. Triple 300 Verados 70 to 75. Quad 300 Verados 75 to 80 mph and With twin Mercruisers 565s 80 to 85mph. Hope you all enjoy the running shots and we will as promise keep you all in the loop!
